Well, Perry Miniatures has done me wrong once again, I say!

I ordered a bunch of their 16th Century Samurai plus some Korean rocket arrow launchers and handgunners to add to my existing armies, and what did they do to me? ARRRGHH!!! I CAN'T FREAKIN' BELIEVE THIS!!!!

The order came in *record* time to the 'States! The order was *perfect*, filled out *exactly* to the last sashimono, and the figures in person are as always even better than in the photos!

I have nothing to complain about here because once again those evil Perry Twins have demonstrated what a talented and pleasant pair of efficient professionals they really, truly are, denying me any possible excuse to complain vociferously about them like I can with one too many other manufacturers I could name! It is an OUTRAGE, I SAY!!

BAH!! Denied my gods-given right as a wargamer to whine and complain about a manufacturer! Curse you Perry Twins! Just for that, I'll be ordering more of your figures in the future, because I KNOW you're going to screw up, and then I will have you both at last! MWAHAHAAHAHAAAA!!!evil grin

Lets see if you are still feeling denied after you paint all those laces and lacquered plates. Would that you were still in Texas.

mjkerner05 Feb 2012 6:32 p.m. PST

I have the same trouble with them, too. Over and over again. Those bastiges!

Plausible deniability is what I'm all about, dude… evil grin

<sigh> 'Tis a bitter thing, Fortuna when one's virtu cannot overcome the need to place some geographic distance between one and one's ungrateful progeny, the better to enjoy the new-found and welcome status of *empty nesters*…evil grin

Feel free to blame our kids… evil grin

I must admit that while the scenery and peace and quiet are orders of magnitude better than before, the lack of so worthy an opponent is sorely missed… these locals just flat-out lack your predatory cunning… I almost pity whomever you manage next into being your regular opponent… almost, but that's about it… Bwahahahaahaa!!evil grin

Life is good!

Not only does it appear to be true that there are in fact 3 twins who do all the sculpting, but I suspect there is a 4th who is a trained pilot and personally couriers the deliveries to the US.

Shh, Gilo, we don't talk about Zeppo Perry.

Mr. Erickson,

As a vendor myself, I must plead with you and the other folks on this site NOT to post messages with misleading titles like that. I know your message is tongue-in-cheek and anyone reading your full message would see that you are happy with the service you've received from Perry Miniatures. But anyone who just glanced at the title of your post without reading it would make a mental note: 'Hmmm, Perry Miniatures = Poor Service'. Not fair to them. I've had a well-meaning customer do that to me here and it's no laughing matter.

Thanks!

While I am glad you had a great experience with them, I have not.
To the point that I would rather order from New Wave or the old Black Tree Designs then order from Perry again.
Kid you not.

The Perry's reputation will hardly be demolished by one questionable header. I have been purchasing their miniatures for almost a decade. Never had one issue. No miscasts, no missing items, no worries. And I think that is the general opinion of the community at large.

Richard I respect your feelings on the matter but the Black Tree and New Line miniatures don't hold a candle to Perry's in terms of quality of materials, sculpting, and subject matter. But they are smaller operations.

Mr. Washburn,

your plea is so noted. If I ever have cause to do business with *you,* and that proves to be enough of a positive experience to elicit a response in writing from yours truly, I will keep it entirely bland, boring, and unmistakeably clear in title as well as content.

That said, if my satirical title was all it took to influence a handful of people away from the excellent service and products of Perry Miniatures, then such abject stupidity has merely added further proof to the cynicism of P.T. Barnum concerning how "There's a sucker born every minute!"

Satire is lost on the tone deaf, indeed, however I for one am not tone deaf, and don't cater to same as a matter of course. As the majority of people I've interacted with on TMP have proven to be anything but tone deaf, I proceed accordingly.evil grin

I am genuinely sorry for you having been subjected to the foolishness of the willfully ignorant who chose not to actually read a post to get to the bottom of the matter. Having run a small one-man operation, I can commiserate and confirm that such are simply the hazards of doing business.

That said, I will not regulate myself any more than I already do. I am *incorrigible* by my own admission, and will continue to indulge my warped sense of humour as I have, as I see fit.evil grin

If anyone has taken the wrong idea from this post by merely reading the title and not the post proper, that is on them, not on me. If anyone runs around claiming the satirical title of my post was anything other than what it is, then they are either a fool or a liar. If I become aware of anyone engaging in such misrepresentation of the facts, I will hunt them down and pillory them accordingly.evil grin

"If anyone has taken the wrong idea from this post by merely reading the title and not the post proper, that is on them, not on me"

So you are saying that if you decide to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater to indulge your "warped sense of humor" then the people who get trampled are to blame for having taken your statement at face value and not delving deeper into your true meaning?

Sorry, my sense of humor can get a little warped at times too. :)

BlackWidowPilot Fezian06 Feb 2012 7:48 p.m. PST

No, Scott, I am not saying any such thing; argumentum ad extremum is not a valid rebuttal.

*And,* you really shouldn't be giving someone as demonstrably unhinged as yours truly any ideas…. Mwahahahaahaa!!!evil grin

Not if anyone cares but I read the post only because I wanted to see if someone was crazy enough to bag on the Perry's. I'm just saying…

Well made points and obvious irony used as a counterpoint to some of the 'I ordered the figures yesterday and they still have not arrived' style of some posts here – yes I am a bitter Brit who suffered at the hands of various postal services and Homeland Security, in terms of delays when selling off old figures on ebay – whereby on several occasions I had folk accusing me of being a fraudster as the figures hadn't arrived – which as someone in as you'd say 'Law Enforcement' , I was quite annoyed about – gave them the refund and asked them to advise if the figures ever turned up – never heard from them again. On other occasions where have refunded, the person has then advised they recived the figures and paid again.

Your comment also nicely points up that, in contrast to the ignorant British view that Americans don't do irony, they do – indeed I think that shows like the Simpsons etc are head and shoulders above anything in the UK in terms of of the use of the same – US comedy overall is far better than the slapstick/silly/foul language style that is in vogue over here.

BlackWidowPilot; My Perry mini's always come painted, do yours?

And precisely *what's* wrong wit slapstick, mistah?!

Now just imagine that mug scowling at you from inside a suit of mogami-do armour, a sashimono with a mon of an eight ball, his paws wrapped around an oversized tetsubo…evil grin

No such thing as bad publicity Mr. Washburn.

In that case it was clever of him to point out his objection.

in contrast to the ignorant British view that Americans don't do irony,

They do, it's just that being snide isn't as much of a national obsession.
