Here is my first painted British Mounted General from the Fife & Drum range of AWI figures:

Nice painting and cool terrain in the background. Best, Dean

Very nice!

Are your figures compatible with 28mm AWI Foundry, Front Rank, and Perry Miniatures?

noice!

Where's Colonel Tavington?

dBerczerk, I did some comparison shots on my blog.

I wouldn't mix them in units, but they should look fine together on the battlefield.

Yes, I agree with what Scomac says. The RSM range and the Hinchcliffe X Range figures would also be compatible with the Fife & Drum figures in the same unit.

Sheeesh! It escapes me as to why wargamers do not seem to acknowledge that some people are tall, some are short, some fat some skinny.

Look at photographs of real units!

As long as weapons are in proportion I happily mix brands and figures in order to get a more realistic look. I find it amazing that anyone would spend hours trying to get every possible detail of painting right…but then mess up on the fundamentals of not everyone being the same!

I think you'll find most of us do; it's the "common" items, like muskets and bayonets that make some figures look out of place.

And that does not bother me in the least.
It might if I gamed with the figures an inch from my nose, but they are on the table, several feet from my nose.

Scomac, thank you for the link to your blog -- most helpful!

I can see now that I must have a regiment of Fife and Drum figures to complete my AWI collection.

Sorry to all that my question on "compatability" raised so many hackles.

dBerczerk: don't worry about it. Asking about compatability is perfectly logical. A lot of people have much invested in Perry, Old Glory or Front Rank, etc. and they want to know how the new product matches up.

I went throught the same thing when the Minden SYW figures came out (made by Richard Ansell, as well). I liked them so much that I sold all of my SYW figures and started all over again. Heck, I liked Ansell's work so much that I started my own AWI range. evil grin

I have a regimnent of F&D figures, and plan on getting more.
I also have no plans to have them retire any of my Terrible Old Men. grin
"New" regiments are just that. NEW. No one retires from MY armies!

Looks really good, Alte Fritz. That goes for the whole range, really.
