Has anyone gamed the German revolution post WW1, I am considering it in 28mm

toofatlardies05 Feb 2012 2:52 a.m. PST

Yes, we cover it in our Triumphant Standards supplement for our Through the Mud and the Blood WWI rules. The supplement is free when you buy the rules.

I game it in 28mm with these rules, and much fun it is.

There is a company that makes 28mm figures for the Frei Korps and Reds. I can't remember who right now. Too early in the morning, I'll see if I can remember after a cup or three of coffee.

I think it was Cannon Fodder Miniatures in Australia but a look at their website it seems they are in the middle of a re-organisation.

Hope this helps.

@tinned fruit – We have the CFM range at Blaze Away but are not sure whether they will continue to be produced once we get things going again; it had Freikorps, Reds and a few personality figures,

cheers
Jon.

I have in 15mm.

In 28mm you want late WW1 German stormtroopers, preferably with belt order (imo) and Spartakists can be had from Musketeer Miniatures IRA. Most of the Musketeer IRA riflemen have Mausers, plus theres a dedicated pack each of pistols and shorguns.

Then of course there's characters from Artizan's Thrilling Tales, Empress Spanish Civil War and various 28mm WW1 and VBCW ranges.

For instance Renegades' LW Comamnd, SMG, Grenades and LMGs eg:

Triumphant Standards mentioned above is good.

Cheers

Here are a couple of games from Angus Konstam's Edinburgh Wargames site:

A bit of visual inspiration.

You might want to get a copy of Battlegames 15 (Nov/Dec 2008). It has a four page article on figures, rules, terrain and scenarios. The author games in 20mm but I'm sure it would be helpful.

Haven't gamed it. Have collected and painted figures for it. Mostly Peter Pig (Volksturm, Red Guard, French Resistance, Russian Sailors for Spartakists). PT Dockyard has a very cool 15mm armored car that was used in the civil war. Planned on using model railroad buildings as scenery and an AK47 variant for rules.

What ever happened to the range of figures for this episode that Schltrum Miniatures was going to produce?
