For a while now I have wanted to make a Dutch Fluyt. The problem was there were no suitable hulls out there that resembled the rounded, lumbering shallow draft vessels of the day. Then Ainsty started producing the old Dixon line. Add a mizen mast, a few Dutch VOC flags and a whole lot of rigging. TADA!

Slow, poorly armed, full of trade goods. What more could a Pirate want!

This looks great.
But if a dutch ship the better name would be "jen ever"

Very nice job. Your sails and rigging are great.

Nice work. Looks superb, as usual!

Supposedly, fluyts were actually quite quick compared to other merchants, since they were fairly narrow. Not very maneuverable though, given their long length to beam ratios.

Who makes the deck guns you are using?

On that ship, Crusader. I use just about everyone's cannons. It mostly depends on the model.

You have really done a fantastic job on this one again! makes me swell with pride

Andy (Ainsty Castings),
Congrats, I saw you just got a U.S. distributor. The Cool part is he actually comes to the Fall recruits Convention where I will be running The Giant Pirate game. Hope he has a few ships on hand!

Beautiful Work.
I look forward to boarding her at Recruits.

Lion's Den,
it wouldn't be a pirate game with out you at Recruits. Already have prizes are on the way from Old Glory. Nick is going to allow a VIP game for practice on Friday night just for sailing around and causing a ruckus. We have 5 volunteer GM's, another 24 ft long table and a secret pirate island added this year.
Let me know when you get that fine "prize" you captured last year painted up and we'll stat' her out.

Sounds great. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

What rules will you be using for the naval battles, and the land actions?

wingnut06 Feb 2012 11:39 p.m. PST

The Rules are our own. "Fist Full of Seamen"
They cover almost every aspect of the period, fast play, and can be as light or as detailed as the players desire. They are still some where in editing at the moment….
