I haven't posted anything on TMP for a while, so I thought I'd share another account from Waterloo. This was written by Captain Friedrich Bülow, who served with the Lüneburgh Light Infantry Battalion, part of von Alten's Division:

For those of you who are interested and who have accounts on Facebook, I contribute to the Project Hougoumont page, where there is a healthy discussion about the events of 1815 and a whole lot more besides. Perhaps you might be interested in taking a look:

@John Franklin

Thanks for that account of Captain Bulow.
It was very interesting.
Especially the part of page 3 where he mentions that the square of their two battalions was now so small that mounted officers could not fit inside it !

(How often do we see that on the wargames table! where our generals can't fit in a square – so it happened in real life too!)

Welcome back, enjoyed your post especially since I'm going to be working on Hanoverians very soon.

Great lower ranking combat officer AAR. Someone posted a green private's account of Waterloo not too long ago and the contrast between the two is quite striking. Control & poise versus fear and bewilderment. If only there were more in English ! :)

Gentlemen,

I'll prepare some more items for posting shortly, including a lengthy Brunswick account, one from a Prussian Hussar, and a couple of very interesting British accounts. John

P.S. Please take a few minutes to look at the Project Hougoumont page, as you might be interested in just how much material there.

Mr.Franklin
This was a wonderful account of waterloo.I knew most of the Hanovarians fought with great courage ,but I did not relize just how much this battalion suffered and "stood" it's ground.Thank you.
I have started collection Hanovarian Napoleonic troops for something differant then the big nations,(I have been collecting french and confederation troops for over 30 years).I am also working on a army list for the Hanovarians for the Black Powder rules.I know feel very justified at classing the Hanovarian line and light battalions as veteran troops.

Tim Young
p.s. I am also on Project Hougoumont.
