Good evening all, I've posted some notes on my plans to create a portable version of the miniatures and terrain with which I hope to fight the occasional battle in hotel rooms. The Duchy of Baden-Hundsheim and the Principality of Formulgala may well be doing battle on the road some time soon. Anyone with experience taking wargames with them on trips who would care to share what they've learned is most welcome to comment. Or anyone else, for that matter :-) Cheers! link |

Two deployments and multiple trips to various places and civilian work, I can tell you that I keep it minimalist. It's got to be self contained, small enough not to be an issue if you fly, and not to be cried over if it gets lost. 6mm is a good way to go, or maybe 15mm. I usually take ships if it's a place I've never been, and have some other bits if I've been before. Rule of thumb is one Plano box for everything, except rules. Eric |

Thanks Eric. I'm curious why you take ships to new places? There must be something there I'm not understanding yet. I agree completely that one Plano box should be enough to hold everything for such a game. I never have much extra room in my luggage. Thanks again. |
