How does your club do this? Do you all support it by painting figures, scenery etc? Or does the club pay for everything for the game and only certain people paint and put the game on?

Thanks in advance,

Mick

Hey Mick- In the States we did it as a Theme (Historicon 2010 in Valley Forge) we ran the Philadelphia Campaigns AWI with each group helping out to supply terrian, figures and a few GMs during the course of the Show. We also had a club room of various clubs in the Philly area that ran a wide variety of games all weekend long. So to semi-answer your question, Our clubs did not really fund the games it was more a collective Collection of Games on a period we all agreed on. Hope that helps.

I suspect different clubs do things differently. Often a relatively small number of people in a club will get together and decide on a game they want to put on. They will normally supply the digures terrain etc. themselves.

What 114th PA said. I ran Crooked Billet, turned over some of my troops to another guy doing Second Trenton, lent more stuff to another guy.

For our group (which numbers in single digits) we have a couple of us who do the majority of the games and we usually run what we want, the rest of the guys help out here and there and we also use their figs or terrain if needed. With that being said we usually run 5-6 games at each convention.

But for something like our Toys for Tots fund raising at Fall in!, it's all hands on deck.

I imagine it depends.

For the upcoming, local 15mm Pirate Mega game, my impression is that one guy is footing most of the bill for the terrain, and minis, since he plans to use both for other things as well.

Some people have volunteered to paint the minis, and buildings/terrain.

Others may be contributing some of their stuff, on loan.

A lot of the club members are helping make, modify, create, and paint the terrain.

A number of people from the club will be helping out as GMs for the game(s) too.

We've done it different ways; our biggest effort was 1809 for Historicon 2009 – did six battles in 3 days, each with a different head GM, and with contibutions in varying degrees from each of the participants as far as troops etc. Other years I just ran them and the other guys helped out. This year we're doing three battles, probably each one run by a different guy, but with the troops pulled from 5 of us.

Really whatever works best for your own group is the way to go!
