Does anyone know of any Task Force Zeta rules or game play reviews?

I just downloaded the demo. Looks interesting. I wonder if there is some sort of program/spreadsheet that helps you generate the ship cards – because without that it could be a bit of a problem to design your own ships.

But I am intrigued none the less – general mechanics look not bad (love the 2d6 to hit). Only $12.50 USD for the PDF.

I'd love to read a review to.

My 2¢, I have played about 8 games with the rules both basic and advanced and enjoyed them both. The game is really easy to pick up and after a couple of turns your not referencing anymore so thats a bonus. I would definatly recommend playing advanced rules as soon as you are able, the basic rules turn most small battles into slugfests ( by slugfest I mean both ships square off and dice are rolled until one is destroyed) really fast and it becomes a tedious dice rolling excercise. Advanced rules allow a lot more manuevers which help the feel of the game as well as power management and fighters. Single ship vs ship combat between two ships of the same point value or power level rely a little too much on lucky dice. We have found that several ships 5-10 per side allow a lot of tactical flexibility in that there are fewer "slugfests" We have been using it for Trek but will be testing with Battlestar Galactica ships this weekend or the next. The only thing my group has changed is that all firing and damage is considered to be simultaneous,(ie;ships that get blown up in the middle of the round still get to shoot and blow up at the end of the turn) and at the end of the turn all damage is applied. I'd say go for it!

Karl Johnson recently sent me an electronic copy for review on my blog firebroadside.blogspot.com

So far I've just tried the first couple of scenarios with the basic rules and I like it so far. Naturally I'm looking forward to the advanced rules as that should add quite a few maneuver options.

Hopefully the review will be done proper within a couple of weeks. :)

Thanks guys. Do any of you know how it compares to Colonial Battlefleet? (Which has been out go-to setting ATM)

Tim – there isn't a spreadsheet for building ships, but I've added blank, edit-enabled PDF ship and fighter data card sheets to the files for both volumes (can be downloaded by both past and future purchasers of the books). I've also placed them in the Files section of the Yahoo group, and will add them to the company website sometime before Monday.
