Does anyone know if it's possible for a club to be a member of the GCN and still have an adult-only policy for members? The whole thing seems to be geared towards kids and CRB checks etc.

What the Bleeped text is 'the' GCN?

Never assume your audience knows the same abbreviations as you (and it is an abbreviation, not an acronym).

I'm OK with CRB though. :)

Gaming Club Network – I was hoping that people who knew about the GCN would recognise the abbreviation. Those who don't know, won't know… :-)

Blimey, it's like the Masons…

But with better girls.

I'd be surprised.

It appears that you have to have club rules that define the age limits for both members and guests, but you are not allowed to practice age discrimination.

So your guess is as good as mine.

and the gaming club network take ages to get back to you after submitting.

What if you meet in licensed premises where children are not allowed?

One thing they seem to be good for is their access to insurance services. It can be rather difficult to find a suitable policy for a wargames club. Normal brokers just don't seem to be interested.

I bet someone is making something out of it though.

GCN accept 18+ groups.

Cheers.

Yes – my local gaming club (Cornwall Miniature Wargames Association) is an 18+ only club (sounds more exciting than it really is!) and joined the GCN last year. Only real benefit so far has been the insurance service, and we did have to get all the committee CRB checked as well…

we did have to get all the committee CRB checked as well…

Why are CRB checks required if it's 18+ ?

CRB checks protect vulnerable adults as well.
