Hello,
what colours should I paint Russian and Japanese field guns for the 1904-05 war? Thank you in advance.

Deserter, are you referring to the pieces themselves, or their carriages?

guns & carriages, thank you

OK. I've been searching around for the last 40 minutes, and I found the following:

They're from the Displaced Miniatures website, and it's the only pic that shows what you're specifically looking for. I'll keep looking around, and hopefully, I'll find something.

For what it' worth, I painted those pieces. AND, I can't even remember how I decided upon those colors! grin I know I found a reference of sorts – because it was hard & somewhat elusive as I recall. Anyway, if I find the source I'll post it here. Dean

Okay, here's what I posted on my blog when I painted them up a few years ago: "I'm not even sure of the colors – due to my failed web search. I just gave it a light blue-grey finish. Figured that's how some German guns were painted at the time – and the Japanese sort of following their lead after the Franco-Prussian War" link So, either take your chances with these colors, or keep searching. BTW, there is a RJW site that may help russojapanesewar.com I can't recall if I asked there or not at the time. Dean

thank you, will go for dark green for Russian and light blue-grey for Japanese

excellent painting job on your figures, by the way

I have seen a period Japanese print somewhere that showed guns in a light grey-similar to those nicely painted ones above.
