I use cheesecloth for camo nets in 1/35 scale, but it may be too loose a weave for 1/72. Maybe gauze?

Thanks mate, will look at that with next batch of kits.

Just added couple more pics, almost done what i wanted with them.

Nice!

Very good. Rather than build the Armourfast stuff I am now using the "Easy Model" plastic pre-mades, and then adding the Dragon ready-painted stowage – looks great and not that expensive.

Cheers

You're doing a great bit of work there Mathew. Can I recommend the Italeri fastbuild shermans to you?- great value, easy to put together, and better detail than the Armourfast stuff. For more info on 1/72 Sherman kits check out this website:

Here's an example of the Italeri fastbuild Shermans on my blog:

Keep up the good work.

Are the Shermans as huge as the M10 and M36 vehicles?

Thanks for the comments. :)

I am working these guys up, purely because i have them.

I will certainly be going the italeri route though for more, i think they will be very similar in size, but as mentioned with extra details.

Just trying to get the colour right now for painting…….any suggestions?

Tamiya XF-62 Olive Drab is a perfect match for US WWII armor. For a scale effect, try mixing in some Tamiya Dark Yellow. I like to do panel fading with my airbrush, making the center of the panels lighter than the edges. It helps to break up the monotone finish and adds some depth to the model.

any 10 tanks, all will be slighty differnt..dependingg on the length of their surviving even newly issued vehichles may be weathered as they sat out in the open most of the time..
