Thought I'd post a quick update of my progress building forces for a Winter War project in 20 mm.

Mostly Soviets (almost all plastics that have been converted in some way) so far and some scratchbuilt terrain, but thought you may like to have a look and offer a bit of feedback:

All mounted on pins on one massive styrofoam base? Neat!

That's pretty cool. Love the pins to stick them in the foam. I would use some baking soda to cover the foam for a more realistic snow appearance.

Thanks for the comments. My idea was to have sort of a "moving diorama" look whilst playing out the battles.

My plan is to make a dedicated terrain board using mostly styrofoam and some cardboard/papier mache, covered with a light blanket of baking soda. That way, I can use the figs with just pins instead of bases to hopefully give a nice dioramic feel…
