Are Jim Brokaw's resin ACW ironclad models still available? If so who sells them? I thought I remembered them being in the Old Glory site but I cannot find them.

The models are now back with Mr. Brokaw. You will need to contact him. The last time that I talked to him, he had planned on making them available again through him.

I thought that Jim's ironclad models were 1/196th scale (1/16 inch equals 1 foot) a standard ship scale?

Really nice models if you can get your hands on them. Jim is in my gaming group. I will ask him about his plans for production. He does move rather slow though…

Dave, they probably are scaled 1/196. I was just guessing. Thanks HornetsNestMinis, it will be interesting to find out what is happening. They are far too good to just disappear off the scene.

Jim is a talented sculptor and a good friend. He is also a perfectionist of the highest order. So the smallest bubble in the casting process results in the destruction of the model. This is great from a consumer stand point as you always get a great model. From a production stand point however…

Like most of us, Jim creates models out of his passion for wargaming and History. So its not his full time job. My father, myself and Jim are planning on attending Cold Wars so I will see if he has plans/product to sell at the con.

They are 10mm. It really isn't a true scale as they are a little bit shorter in length and/or taller than true 1/196 would suggest (designed for gaming). The figures some models have match fairly well with Jim's "Old North State" line and the Perrin Line. I agree with HornetsNestMinis, Jim is a great guy.

Jim has some new masters for his line that should be out soon. He sent out some pictures and I hope they are ready soon.

Cheers,
Joel
