This game was based on actions in late November 1943 in the Nikopol Bridgehead area. The Heavy tank destroyers and assault guns of Sch Pzjgr rgt 656 were constantly sent out to blunt the local Soviet attacks. The game was played over a couple of days using the TFL I Ain't Been Shot Mum rules v3 link

That is a very easy on the eye set up. Very nice. |

Thanks guys, Tim, I remember checking out your Nikopol games a couple of years ago. Good stuff indeed. You need to get some new games up for us to admire. Mark |

Mark, I've seen your AARs posted on the GHQ forums before. Very inspiring stuff! I had previously written off 6mm as too small to bother with but your scenery shows what's possible. |

Some of the best looking games I have seen. The winter stuff has inspired me to do some winter terrain myself. For some odd reason I want to see how you would set up desert terrain? |

Beautiful work and excellent photographs! |

Thanks for the comments. I have avoided desert set ups simply because the other folks I game with run the desert games in 15mm or larger, so I didn't want to step on their toes. And it meant that I didn't have to invest in a whole new range of minis and terrain. I've managed to acquire tons of stuff for European games over the last couple of decades so its pretty easy for me to come up with a nice game for that continent. The winter has been so mild here, I haven't felt the urge to do a snowy landscape yet. |

Winter has been mild here as well. I think your pictures have been the motivation to get winter stuff painted. Also helped motivate an afternoon at the fabric store based on a tenth look at some of your games one morning. I think the desert war is just for the selfish reason that I am wondering how you would make it look. I was amazed by how you did the Greek set up. Just looked great. I am planing to do some 1967 stuff in 6mm and just wondering how you would set up desert terrain. Thanks again for your great AARs. Got me really pluugging through my Adlers. |

I would probably go with a paler yellowish tan sheet rather than the brownish one I have now for the basic sand area. I use Woodland Scenics RR ballast for small rocks and they make a pale tan package-the smaller the better for microscale. Then some of their finer scrub sprinkled about for the desert plant life. Thanks for the suggestions. I purchased a nice yellow tan sheet at the fabric shop a few weeks back (may actually be a bit to brown but at $1.50 USD figured I should bring it home), and was thinking the same thing about the scrub for plant life. Was also looking at the ballast. Desert roads in a light brown tan white color with pastels? |

Sounds like that would work just fine. Lookimg forward to seeing the game. |

Truly amazing terrain! Do you use paint or chalk? |

DL, The markings are done with chalk pastels |
