i painted these up for a friend of mine who is starting an army for Gruntz. the tanks are 15mm merkas from a manufacturer that i cannot seem to recall. i convinced him that i could make a scratch-built mine plow on one of his tanks and it would look really cool. he said yes. he was happy! the walkers are 10mm naga striders from Heavy Gear. the large mech is a museum scale vulture from Battletech, which i believe might fall between 10mm and 15mm. i put them all in with my 10mm scenery and stuff, and they all look quite nice together.

Great paint job! The Merkas are from Rebel Minis

Beautiful work, and the 15mm Merkavas make perfect megatanks in 10mm.

Looks very nice. You're friend is going to be very pleased with that force. What size are the infantry? It looks like they are 10mm Mechwarrior stuff. It's entirely possible to use 10mm figs with 15mm vehicles, you just have nice big vehicles.

It's doing the opposite that is more problematic as you end up with 15mm figures that look too large compared to the stunty 10mm vehicles. That's why it's mostly only the mechs (though there are exceptions) from mechwarrior clix that work well with 15mm

Love the paint jobs!

i totally agree, Bass. i have only recently begun to explore different 15mm minis as options for my 10mm army. i am anxiously awaiting the arrival of some of my first 15mm that i will convert to 10mm.
the infantry pieces i use are indeed MW:DA pieces. since i don't really "use" infantry- they are more of a set decoration here- i just pry them off the clicky bases and use them as is. some day i might properly mount some on bases, but that is quite low on my list. i have been thinking about purchasing some nice looking 10mm infantry from the Heavy Gear line, though.
i forgot to mention that i added the muzzle brakes to all the tanks. i thought they looked cooler with muzzle brakes.

WOW! Very nice!

How did you make the mine plows?

Spaceman Spiff02 Feb 2012 8:30 a.m. PST

the mine plow is scratch-built from plastic card stock and plastic tubing. i also used some unidentified plastic bit from my spare parts box to attach the tubing and the plow to.

love that flaming wreck mechwarrior command vehicle…do you take commisions?

Spaceman Spiff04 Feb 2012 12:42 p.m. PST

not right now. i have too many sitting on my desk in various states of completion. and once i am done with these, i will no longer paint anything made by IWM.
