Wonder if anyone can help me here. What was the difference between the Uniforms of the German and Hungarian units in the Austrians Army?

All I could find was different trousers. White with black gaiters for the German units, Light blue with yellow braid and no gaiters for the Austirans. Is this all?

German infantry wore the breeches and gaiters as you say. Hungarians wore the tight fitting trousers with yellow and black 'Imperial' lace. (More mid-blue than too light.) Also, the cuffs on the jackets were different. Germans had a plain round cuff fastened by two buttons. Hungarians had a pointed cuff with a decoration known as a 'bear's claw' on it in white. Headgear and equipment was pretty much the same.

On a side note, the Hungarian units were a bit larger than the German/Austrian units, but I digress. . . .

And Hungarians got shakoes first after 1806. And hungarians are way cooler. Goulash, Paprika Chicken, Roasted Potatoes. Nary a Torte in sight.

I think Hungarians had moustaches for all enlisted ranks as well.

Makes sense – cant eat tortes with a moustache.
