I have a copy of "1944 Americans In Brittany, The Battle for Brest" which has an excellent selection of uniforms, photographs and history. It was published by Histoire & Collections. I would be willing to part with it for a reasonable amount. Greg C. |

The two main uniforms are: Light jacket (khaki/tan) and dark green/brownish pants(Drab). This uniforms makes the US stand out A light green gray for the equipmentwith a wash or blsckline of the belts makes them stand out. The other uniform is green and kind of boring to paint. :( FOW has a simple/easy to follow color guide. |

I prefer the M41 jacket combo for most of my American infantry in Europe. It, to my mind, is the classic look. Though it was to be phased out in late 44 it continued to be found until the end of the war. Mick has a nice link with the only change being I find that Tamiya XF-57 Buff replicates the color of the jacket much better. |

Look at your figures and see what they are wearing: a short jacket like this
is the light olive M41. It fades to a light tan or khaki drill color in the field. If they have a longer, hip length jacket with patch pockets like this
it's the M43 in the familiar dark olive green. There's also the denim "HBT" uniform meant for fatigue duty and hot weather climates; similar to Marine Corps utilities except theirs had a single pocket on the jacket. This was sometimes worn over the wool uniform in Europe e.g. the 4th ID in Normandy
