Pretty pictures, a bit low on the informational value though.

May I recommend the excellent "Central Asia in World History" (Peter Golden) to go with it? And even more so "Die Mongolen" (edited by Michael Weiers), which is available for next to nothing in used book vendors. (Yes it is in German and, no, I do not know of a comparably well-done and well-researched work.)
