A 1:48 scale Hobbymaster King Tiger has become the latest victim of our 28mm sci-fi arms race. This was my first attempt to use an air brush. Yikes. It was cheesey, but fun. Read more here: link A few pictures for the folks who dislike following the links.
Apologies to the Hobbymaster folks – that really was a nice model :) As always, thanks for looking/reading. Cheers, Greg |

I think you did a very nice job, actually, except for that crazy GW inspired main gun barrel! |

That must be the "super long bun" to which John the OFM was referring. TMP link Jim |

@Caesar – thanks – the insane main gun barrel is a bit of a standard for our own sci-fi gaming. A blend of homage and parody. Most of our vehicles feature gun barrel that are a touch silly. We figure there is some kind of fancy stabilizers on the gun mount to prevent the gun itself from decapitating the crew when it fires

Oh, heck yes. That looks perfect – okay, except for the barrel. I've never liked GW's massive barrels. Keep the original and greeblie it up – add a different muzzle brake, or some tubing around the barrel, or something. Otherwise, fantastic. (I've been mucking about with the same idea for a while, except using 1/35 scale models. I've got a quartet of T-55s that I need to 'downscale' somehow. But this is making me rethink 1/48

@nvdoyle – don't give up on your T-55s. A fellow in our group did an amazing job with a 1/35 scale T-64. link I think the 1/35 T-55s can serve you well. |

Great work I have just modified a Polish 1/35 tankette as a command vehicle for my Basilisk battery – seems to work well (I should probably man up and figure out how to post images) |

As always very inspiring stuff , really enjoy visiting your blog every few days . it has inspired us to make to pseudo IG forces for FUBAR as well . At the moment i am planning a similiar conversion with a 1/35 Chi Ha , looks perfect for a retro sci fi tank cheers Tom |

@Tim – I would imagine impaired cross country movement is just one of the many problems this "vehicle" will have. As I said, the setting for our home-grown 28mm sci-fi gaming is very much a blend of homage and parody. Absurdity of the main gun is a big part of that. Although I see some vehicles around right now and wonder how they ever move around – link the Russian 2S19. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2S19_Msta I assume that bracket balances the barrel? |

@ Tim – thanks very much! I had never imagined thatt MBTs could end up with a bunch of dirt in the muzzle. What would a crew do to clear something like that if it happened during combat? |

Big battles call for Really Big Guns! That looks just about right, except it should be a 4 barrel revolver cannon. |

I think it looks great. I'm not crazy about the gun barrel, but the model is wonderful. |

Just goes to show that some of those 40k detail pieces work really nicely, while others look silly. Then again, I shouldn't talk too much. I put a machined-aluminum 1/35 Tiger II barrel onto a Predator (found one of those armor superdetail kits in a store and couldn't resist). Had to use a piece of sprue as a hook to keep the turret on the ring! |

@Chuckaroobob – we leave the 4-barrel revolver cannons for the walkers :) @ Lion – I would love to see a picture of that gun barrel on the Predator! |
