link First impression. I like the game so far. I think Phil made some good changes. |

Good report. During deployment, did you give any thought to setting up further than 300 paces from the centre line to allow for more maneuver? What are your feelings on Bd pursuing? Under DBMM, regular Bd don't so the Roman line doesn't get disrupted as much. |

Nice report. Your conclusion regarding faster play mirrored my experiences as well. |

During deployment, did you give any thought to setting up further than 300 paces from the centre line to allow for more maneuver? I considered it but wanted a nice raw experience just to see how it really shakes out. What are your feelings on Bd pursuing? I like it. Blades are pretty powerful against all comers. By making them pursue (BTW, not just blades but all heavy infantry v foot) you take some of the control away from the player. They get sucked in and you can't just pile on until you get rid of the unit you are fighting. Your conclusion regarding faster play mirrored my experiences as well. So I do think the unit speeds are suspect but to be fair, the jury is still out. My next fight will be Marrians v Gaul. That should shed some more light on unit speed. |

Phil Barker will be sending me the latest version* of DBA 3 by the end of the week so we can give it a go (Lords of the Nile game) at Vapnartak on Sunday. We quite liked the longer movement for participation game purposes (after some experiments at Christmas), but I have no idea what will happen if/when it gets exposed to intensive tournament play. Phil soawargamesteam.blogspot.com *pretty much the version you've used I'd guess
