You will also find that the British deployed Harriers to Afghanistan.

Cutting them when the war is still on-going does not strike me as rational, though perhaps you disagree.

As well as Argentina making noises, Libya looks ready to kick off again and who knows whats going on in Egypt. Having a strong and flexible Royal Navy seems a lot more sensible use of British tax-payer's money than (for example) giving it to India – who had to be begged to take it, and where a lot of it was used to fit GPS trackers to buses in Kolkota.

Interestingly, though their economy is smaller than Britain's, India (who the current British government are determined to give aid to) operates both carriers and Harriers, has a space program and nuclear weapons.

Do you really think HM Government know best?
