Hi all! I've been wargaming WWII with miniatures for a few years now using BKC (1st Ed.), Crossfire, Flames of War, Battlefront: WWII and Battleground WWII. So far I've been the happiest with Battlefront: WWII and Battleground: WWII but now I am looking for a WWII ruleset with some very specific criteria. I would appreciate it if you have experience with another ruleset that may fit my criteria listed below: 1) Vehicle scale is 1:1, one model is one vehicle. 2) Troop stands represent either a fire team or a squad, no more, no less. 3) Ground and time scales are fairly "realistic", ex. 15mm scale: 1" ~ 50 yards/meters or less. Thank you for any/all leads. |

Is 'Force on Force' not like this? |

Crossfire would work for you. |

Fireball Forward: fireballforward.com Or (I think the scale matches) "Men Under Fire". Both to be released this summer. Patience, patience. |

To my way of thinking Crossfire and FOW would seem to fit your "but now" criteria already
In any case Mein Panzer is another one. |

I'd recommend using Conflict of Heroes link in miniature. Great system. Vehicles are 1:1, infantry is squads and teams. Forces is on the Eastern Front so far. |

Force-on-Force does not meet his criteria at all
It has no set time or ground scale and uses individually based figures and at present has no WW2 rules. Apart from that
Its spot on. I would have suggested 2nd Edition BKC or the old 'Combined Arms' ruleset. |

1:1 vehicles, team/squad basing and realistic ground/time scales but which aren't FOW or CF. OK. WRG 1925-50 (although I always though the timescale was a bit of a fudge). Its cold war brother WRG 1950-7/8/9x A Platoon Commanders War (recently published in the SOTCW Journal, a sort of updated WRG 1925-50). Striker. Bocage Battle by Andy Grainger (published a very long time ago indeed in Practical Wargamer IIRC), resurfaced to a degree in 'Skirmish 90' available on the old SOTCW website. Cambrai to Sinai, long OOP but the scale you are after. Firefly! ditto as for C2S. AHGCs Squad Leader. AHGCs Tobruk (although actually I used to use the counters and boards to play WRG 1925-50). I am sure there are others. |

Squad Leader in miniature (available for free somewhere on the web). |

Schwere Kompanie. 50 meters to the inch. Individual vehicles (lots of stats!, yum!) Squad stands (4 figs on a base = a squad, 3 is a team). Written for Micro Armor, double the scale to make it 15mm. (1" = 25 meters) |

Peter Pig's "Poor Bloody Infantry" would fit your requirements. Vehilces are 1:1. Infantry based in 3's as fireteams. Ground scale 1" = 10m. Players typically field a company sized force, although people have successfully played it with larger forces on bigger tables. |

Is 'Force on Force' not like this? No, FoF has individually based infantry operating in gun team/rifle team groups (sub-squad) and has no defined groundscale. You can use multibased figures, but you're going to have to mark casualties. Really, I think that FoF is one level of command lower than Plainsman wants to play (sounds like he wants to be a company commander, not platoon leader) |

Another vote for Fireball Forward. Simply the best WW II game I have ever played. I am slightly biased since I am a play tester and I drew the cover, but it's pretty much the only game I run in the Man Cave House of Wah lately and I have yet to run it for anybody that didn't greatly enjoy the system. Out at Historicon, but the playtest kit is available at the link Tuscaloosa gave above. |

Hi all, Thanks for the recommendations so far! The leads are really appreciated! Some of these look like they have some potential for me. I'll be looking into them more fully! Keep the leads coming if you have 'em! Thank you! |

I'd vote for IABSM3, and PBI by Peter Pig. But it does sound like you're using the same scale from Flames of War, which is actually pretty popular. Oh, and sure, Squad Leader, the original game, makes for a playable game. My group was using that in 20mm for years and years. |

Troops Weapons and Tactics by the same folks that bring you IABSM. Each infantry base is a half squad so it is focused on the platoon rather than the company. Depends on the scale you are looking for. lots of great games mentioned. good Luck Joe |
