Hi everyone,
After a couple of months of off-and-on terrain making, I'm pleased to say that my Great War trench system terrain boards are ready for action. You can see the images and a blog of the construction process at: link

Jaw-dropping work, Digger! Great job for the Great War! Best, Dean

Very cool! I can tell you put in a lot of work on those.

What is the little square section in the bottom, center of this photo?:

(the square inside of the square… is that for a mini-diorama?

I started and abandoned a similar project some years ago so I'm dead impressed knowing how much work actually needs to go into building a trench system. Whats the size of each tile?

WarWizard30 Jan 2012 11:39 a.m. PST

That looks really great. Is this 15mm or 28mm?
I like that you have the forward trench that leads to the rear trench with observation post. Are you going to lay down some barb wire in front of the forward trench?

Dantes -- I think the smaller square comes out allowing Digger to put some other terrain feature there…like trees or a bunker or heavy artillery piece.

I agree, there's one in the far corner too.

Thanks for the comments. The squares are designed to be interchangeable with others yet to be made. I'm thinking of doing some pillboxes, stands of shattered trees, gun emplacements, and ruined houses. I still have to get around to doing some barbed wire. The scale is 25-28mm. Each terrain square is 2 ft x 2 ft.
