Hi I'm trying to put a FoW list together for a border clash btwn the French and Italians. Did either side use armour? |

Sounds cool. Sorry though, I really have no exact info on the subject but will watch closely to see what comes up. I'm guessing the Italians had some of their tankette stuff, the French
maybe some FT-17s with any French tank of worth and long since having been sent north to face the Germans. |

As above, some L33/35s for the Italians. The French army had a FT 17 battalion assigned to it, however I don't know if they were around, as it is very possible that they went north to face the Germans. Even if the battalion did leave, considering the small scale that FOW is played at, you can easily justify a few of the tanks being left behinmd as not being operational when the battalion pulled out, but that are operational in time for the Italian invasion. |

I've always wanted to game this part of the war. Looking forward to checking out the links. Thanks! |

I think this would really be cool as an "all infantry" effort. When the tanks are so few, and so er
"un-tank-like" why even bother with them? It might be kind of like FoW WWI eh? Something different and interesting anyway. |

In one of the links, it looks like several French soldiers came out of the bunker for the alarm during bathtime and fought naked. I doubt anyone makes THOSE in 28mm
Tim, how did you handle the terrain? I'd love to try this campaign. Did you set the fighting in any particular area or based on a map? Keith |

The France 1940 website will give you the French OOB in variable detail, depending upon which unit france1940.free.fr/en_index.html The ArmeeD'Alpes had a single battalion of FT17s attached link |

Iron Ivan Keith Reminds me of an old friend of mine who served in the Rhodesian Bush War in the BSAP. He was just a youngster when their position was attacked in the middle of the night, their CO – a superintendant or something – woke up and fought the action stark naked. Apparently this chap used to polish off at least a bottle of whisky a day and was thus utterly fearless and seemingly unaware of his undressed state as he valiantly led his troops and fought off the attack. He then told my friend to 'clean up this bloody mess' and went back to his scratcher. |

There is an interesting scenariuo covering this theatre in the TAC Publications 'Blitzkreig 1940' book. Really it was an infantry only effort fough tin the mountains. |

Tim, Thanks! That gives me a start on this. I have the French already and a friend of mine has some Italians. I will have to build some taller hills (I do foam hills under game mats) and am thinking of how to do some of the rockier terrain, but that should be easy with what I have on hand. The table looks great! That's the look I am going for. I'm thinking of doing the fighting around Mento along the coast, but the terrain here is also rocky and very hilly, so the same idea applies. |

IIRC the St. Bernard Pass was held by seven French poilus and an NCO, an eight-man version of Horatius on the bridge. Perfect IMHO for a skirmish scenario in 28mm
