Does anyone make a 1/72nd (key number there) M36 Jackson? I had purchased the old Rapid Fire ones, but they looked puny next to the rest of my 1/72 models and the Ready to Roll series. Any help appreciated. Please, no 1/76th recommendations. Thanks. :-) |

Pricey but . . . . link Its meant to be a static model so it may be too delicate but it is an M36 in 1/72nd |

Ouch. You ain't kiddin its expensive. From all the interal detail listed it is a real modellers dream I guess. I can't help but wonder if there isn't anything out there a little sturdier for gaming? The M-36 certainly came into its own during the Bulge. I did purchase a couple of the Britania ones, but they looked like toys next to true 1/72 stuff. |

Armor fast makes them. Good price, easy to build and cheap. Plus you get two to the box. What more could you ask for? |

The Nitto one was 1/76 I think |

Yes, the Nitto one is 1/76th, and post war with that large muzzle baffle. I wonder if the Armourfast turret interior is any better than the M10 – which is void of any detail? |

Armourfast M36: link I just wish they have the M18 Hellcat too

Sorry no detail. That is the trade off for the cheap price. |

dmebust is correct – there is absolutely no detail inside the Armourfast M36 turrets. Not even a breech assembly for the gun. (The recent M10 Armourfast kits released have a breechblock assy. but not the first batches.) You can get around this by taking the time to add details such as shells toward the rear of the turret, crew, and rolls and packs around the outside of the turret. The other problem is the bottom of the turret is solid – as is the top of the hull body. (The same problem is present on the Armourfast M10s) So if you want to be able to look clear down to the floor of either the M10 or the M36 you have to do some major surgery and cut holes thru both and then add flooring and sides to the hull interiors. Another remedy for the M36 turret is to add top protective plates and flip hatches and make it an M36B2 version. One great thing about the M36 kits as already stated is the price and that you get two of each model in the box. I took one of my M36 Jackson turrets and mounted it on a Sherman M4A3 hull body (Armourfast kit no. 99014) and made it an M36B1 version. (Problem is I'm stuck with a loose M36 hull and a 75mm turret from the Sherman kit.) I don't think any manufacturer makes either the M36B1 or the B2 versions, but someone correct me if they do. taskforc58's link above to the Armourfast M36 shows both a regular M36 and a B1 version on a Sherman M4A3 hull. I also have some good news for taskforce58. Hobby Master will be releasing an M18 Hellcat in 1/72nd scale scheduled this coming March – although don't be surprised if it is delayed in shipping as several of the latest Hobby Master releases have been. This will be the first release of a commercial Hellcat in 1/72 that I know of. (I have a Milicast resin 1/76 scale Hellcat in my collection but it visibly comes up short with all the other 1/72 scale items around it and suffers from one of my own petpeeves with resin – air bubbles and holes especially in the tracks.)
