The US Air Force developed a special floating mine to destroy the Thanh Hoa rail bridge over the Song Ma River. Needless to say, after 2 attempts, the mission was declared over. Apparently they went ahead with the plan, even though those responsible for its development felt it was very unlikely to succeed.
