It would appear that FoW 3rd edition is coming with a Force book of army lists that, in theory, would be the only Codex you would need to make armies. Not a bad idea for those who don't wish to buy the latest Codexes with all the super special lists. |

makes sense. Version 1 had the lists in the back of the book! |

The local store owner tells me the many 2nd ed force books are supposed to remain valid as well, and won't be updated or going out of print. Assuming he's right, sounds like the changes are mostly going to be tweaks to the core game mechanics rather than widespread point cost revisions. Rather more "user friendly" approach, at least. |

BF is NOT "evil". I have reluctantly come around to that conclusion. |

This may be Battlefront's version of the customer-friendly epiphany GW had well over a decade ago: "We're a miniatures company. The rules just help sell more miniatures." I'll note that it didn't stick very long with GW
There may also be a side order of "but we *just* did that book" coming from within Battlefront. Nothing wrong with that. Being the GW brand of "evil" requires a lot of some kinds of work and not so much of other kinds. Battlefront doesn't quite have the GW mix down yet, and it is up to them whether they keep looking for that formula or find one of their own. It will then be up to us to decide whether the results are still, or ever were, "evil". |

It is too, John. I read it on TMP! |

Also remember to take your V2 rule book into your FLGS to get it stamped and to get your free copy of the V3 rules. I don't recall GW ever doing that. |

Also remember to take your V2 rule book into your FLGS to get it stamped and to get your free copy of the V3 rules. Oh I will! Interestingly I made the call earlier that the mini rulebook wasn't going to be the same as the hardbound rulebook. What I think BF has done was bundled the Force and Hobby books WITH the hardbound rulebook. I'm not sure how I can judge my assessment as it seems like you won't be able to get the Hardbound version without Force and Hobby so, the entire product isn't the same but the rule volumes may be. Tricky since the mini rules are classically not the whole book (missing Fluff, missions, army lists, etc.) |

Tricky since the mini rules are classically not the whole book (missing Fluff, missions, army lists, etc.) Well the V2 mini book was not the whole book but the V3 one is in fact just a complete rule book in all respects, just smaller so if you are like me you need your glasses to read it. |

Heck, I need glasses just to read the full size version! |

And as always, if you don't like V3 (and I'm sure there will be a few), you can always stick with V2, just like there are still quite a few folks that have stuck with V1. |

The V3 soft back mini book is 295 pages, the V3 hard back book is 308 pages,so something is missing ? LES |

Perhaps the introduction history section or the design notes would be my guess if anything is not present in the mini-book. I'd not fret over it as it's been stated many times that rules-wise they would both be all inclusive. |

The V3 soft back mini book is 295 pages, the V3 hard back book is 308 pages,so something is missing ? LES According to the people at BF and all their press so far there are no significant differences between the mini and hard cover rules. If there is a difference in page count then perhaps they have left out the history overview at the start of the book. |
