I'm knocking together a small Czech 1938 force in 20mm. The above vehicle is listed in Micromark's army list CZ3 for the Czech fast division. It's also described in Czechoslovak Armoured Fighting Vehicles, 1918-45 by Doyle & Kliment. However there is no photograph and they give no figures for numbers produced. I've tried Googling and trawling through a couple of czech language sites but had no luck. Does anyone have any further info or suggestions on where to look ? I'm intrigued that it doesn't ever seem to have been used by The Germans (or The Slovaks) so wonder if it ever actually saw service. |

I wonder if it's a turretless version of the armoured car of roughly the same era? link |

This is the truck unarmoured though.

You might try contacting Tatra: link (run it through Google Translate) Other links: link link (I haven't watched all of these, but it seems like your best bet--if they don't have information, I suspect that no one does.)

Great links, fellas. there are a pair of photos of a Tatra arm. car without a turret in one of the links but other than it is a Tatra my translator lets me down. |

Thanks to everyone for the links. I'd already visited a couple but several were new and very interesting. No specific mention of an apc in any of them and no pictures of one. It strengthens my suspicion that it never saw service. Mind you that wont stop me trying to build a couple if I ever find a picture – my Czechs have already got LT VZ38 light tanks and a ST VZ39 medium ! |

From the text on link this:
seems to be the APC prototype that never made it into production. Indicates that it carried a "team" of some type and it is certainly way too small to carry a full squad. "Photographs showing prototypes OA vz.30 predecessors, which originated on the platform costly vehicles Tatra T-26 in 1926. Machine with a square body (registration number, N II-674, later police number 13321) was half transporter guľometného team." |

emckinney thank you. I'd completely missed those photos. I thought I'd already looked at that site so skimmed it. I think that might well be the vehicle. Doyle & Kliment say that it was designed to carry a half squad (driver, commander plus 6 men) though they also say that it was open topped and armed with two lmgs. A roofed version will be easier for me to bodge from an OA vz 30 model though ! :-) |
