Hello everyone! I've heard that the Perry & Kingsford Samurai mix well together, however, I've yet to find some comparison pics. Do any of you have some or know where some can be found? Thanks! |

I don't have any pics, but I've found the Perry figs to be noticeably smaller than the Kingsford figs. I know people come in all shapes and sizes but for me it's a little too much. I'd like my units to be uniform. |

Here you go, I recently found this site myself, everything samurai manufacturer relatesd and a real gem link I am on my way of the warrior collecting unarmoured samurai and bandits etc, so far Perry, Museum miniatures (nicer n the flesh than on their site) a few westwind, Black Hat (cracking range) and a few dixon ronin on their way |

Perry are indeed noticeably smaller. The detail is not as good on Perry though. I've painted over a hundred Perry samurai, and I have to say I prefer the lacing on Kingsford figures. As always, the Perry figures have poses that feel more 'lifelike'. They each have their good points. If you're doing skirmish with individuals I think they mix fine, mixing them in block formations is something I wouldn't do. |

Well, the lacing is what bothers me with the Perry sculpts. I really like their sculpts but the lacing is lacking. The Odoshi lacing patterns are one of the big draws for me and the Perry minis just don't seem to have enough to create some of the more interesting patterns. I guess Kingsford is more along the Kebiki odoshi style and Perry the Sugake odoshi style. Take a look at these: link link I only have a handful of the Perry miniatures right now and they all appear to be the Sugake odoshi. I can't tell from the pics of the minis on their web site, but are any of them like the Kebiki odoshi? If not, I was hoping to mix a few of the Kingsford in in-order to have that style. @Dr Mathias – would you rather go Kingsford over Perry? |

Most of the Perry samurai in "modern" armor – which characteristically reduced lacing. In fact, some even have what appear to be rivets for the cuirass plates – this is also historically accurate. I think the two mix fine. Dean

@DeanMoto – thanks for the pic. The cavalry seem to match better than the foot. I guess I could buy a pack and look. |

Correus: I'd say the Kingsford horses are actually smaller (or shorter legged) – which reflects the historical record. Again, I'd have no problem mixing the two companies. In fact, I'll be getting some more Kingsford in the near future to join the Perry ranks. Dean |
