Reading this thread TMP link about the hate mail that Bill gets about how the site is run got me thinking about what's the real draw here. Is it mostly Bill? The news, the features, the editorial policy, etc. Or is it the community, the posters and contributers? I believe its a mix of course but what would you say is the importance ratio? For example, Bill:10% Members 90%. Some people clearly think Bills policies are enough to make them leave, implying that user contributions amount to zilch. What's the score for you? |

I think it is a nice place to get military historical information and miniatures information and advice. It is easy to use, for the most part. Bill makes it the way it is, so he is a big part of why I like it, I suppose. Craig |

Breadth of knowledge and the willingness toshare it. It's the site with the biggest membership and it, naturally, leaves all others behind in this crucial quality. |

I come for the news and chance to ask questions, or be enlightened by answers to the questions of others (85%). To be amused by genuine humor (10%). To "poke the bear" by defending (with the truth) rules, miniatures or POVs not currently in fashion (2%). To feel superior to some of the fools who insist on deserving my derision. The difference between me and them is that I keep my opinion to myself (1%). All other reasons combined (2%). So I guess it is virtually all about the membership. |

it's all of you crazy gits. I enjoy the articles and everything – complainers just need to hate on something – they paint a target on Bill and off they go. Sorry, but you read the rules and follow them – things go swimmingly well. |

Community and News as long as we can avoid the asinine drama that tends to turn up occasionally. I'm not sure what I would do without it anymore since it serves as my lifeline when work, family and life in general have me down. |

I love the total package. I am greatly pleased by Bill's efforts to moderate. Knowing that the true idiots that would otherwise frustrate me will not be tolerated makes it worth my time. I've given up on other sites over the years. In real life, laws fault on the side of the accused party, but in the world of the internet where everyone is a hidden hero, I prefer what others claim is trampling on their rights. |

Its easy to use i do belong to other forums this is so user friendly. Humour seem to be an extra on other sites. In every club you always get people who think they know better but rarely put forward any real good ideas. |

it's the only forum that works on my old and slow work computer. Actually what got me hooked was when I became a supporting member by someone's donation. Murphy's work stories were great, and hopefully returning soon. have re-upped since then and will continue to do so. Too much good stuff going on here. |

The chance to chat with fellow hobbyists about our mutual interests is what brings me daily to TMP. No one I work with has any interest in military history, modelling or wargaming. No one in my family does. There are a few cronies I know face-to-face in real life, and then there's the internet. And this is the most jumpin' site I know of on the net. |

Mostly I come here because this is a website that is NOT dedicated to any one game system. By this I mean every other post is not about GW or FOW or PP, it is surprisingly less than most other websites. I find the community here to be MORE about different game systems instead of the "Common Three" and I am more able to find someone here who plays different games instead of feeling out of the group for not playing the "Common Three". |

It's a vendor-neutral miniatures gaming site with a large active community. So there's always something to read, and the biases are unfiltered. |
