I don't know what rules someone would use, or minis or what, but I didn't know about most of this and it sounds like someone might want to spin it into a scenario.

I don't actually game myself so it won't be me, but this sounds great for some folks looking for an off beat battle, maybe a sort of Zulu Wars with snow? Have fun.

Interesting, there must be someone out there that makes the figures!

I believe the London Warroom had some figs in 25mm (and possibly some rules). I know I've seen rules for the period somewhere.

Mick Yarrow makes Inuits in 15mm.

"Merchant Kings: When Companies Ruled the World 1600-1900" by Stephen R. Brown is an interesting book that devotes 40 some pages to: Aleksandr Baranov and the Russian American Company.

I don't think these guys need all the winter gear. Maybe other American Indians would be closer?

I placed a hold on "Merchant Kings: When Companies Ruled the World 1600-1900" at my local library!

London War Room did do some figures for it. Various Tlingit warriors armoured and unarmoured with a variety of options for muskets or melee weapons. They also did some Russian explorers/hunters and some Aleuts too.

I have a few which I will use one day for a skirmish scenario – they are one of the things I regret not getting more of from LWR before they closed down.

So no one has purchase the molds? Pity.

Zhao Zilong28 Jan 2012 4:22 p.m. PST

As far as I know nobody ever did. Which is a shame because they had quite a few good ranges I would like more of (Colonial Vietnamese and the Lyzard Grin colonials).

I visited Sitka a few years ago and got very interested in the Battle of Sitka. I put together a list of companies that make figures for the period. Here is what I came up with:

The Battle of Sitka, 1804

The following figures can be used to recreate the Battle of Sitka:

28mm

Aleuts
London War Room (out of business)

Cossacks/Russians
Essex (Renaissance Cossacks)
Foundry
Front Rank
London War Room
Old Glory (Ren and Cossack Wars)
The Assault Group (TAG)

Inuits/Eskimos
Bear's Den Miniatures
Copplestone
Eureka (as part of Colonial Range)

Tlingits
London War Room

15mm

Cossacks/Russians
Essex (Renaissance Cossacks)
Eureka (Grumpys)
Krelimin Miniatures (discontinued)
Old Glory 15s

Inuits/Eskimos
M.Y. Miniatures (UK)

Siberians/Koryaks
Krelim Miniatures (discontinued)

Tlingits
Eureka Miniatures

The Tlingits didn't wear sealskin or elk armor. They had wooden slat armor – very effective. Sealion skins and moosehides are both very tough, and elk were unknown.

I also have more information on the battle which I'm happy to share. If anyone is intersted they can contact me at Burker1 (at) aol.com.
