Sorry to derail this thread for a moment, but I feel I should respond to Blue Devil 88: yikes, no!!! Long ago, as a young man, I played my share of boardgames, but I was always a miniatures guy first and foremost, and I've never been much of a Napoleonic guy (at least outside of the Egyptian campaign) and I never played System 7 -- and I'm still not going to name the rules set I WAS referring to!

It was a joke and at least you knew and there are very few of us that know what System 7 was.

The part about traveling was not a joke.

I wouldn't bet the house on that if I were you.

Depends on the event.

I drive about 9 hours each way to the 3 HMGS conventions, from Canada. I've been doing that for 10 years now and haven't missed a single show since I started. And I hate driving!

Adding a few extra hours each way with the move to Fredericksburg may be the deal breaker. I'll go this year, but this may put Historicon too far away for a fun weekend. And I am well aware that the exact opposite is true for many others.

probably about 3 hours is the most i have driven…i might go out to origins this year, which is about 8hrs, which is 2/3rds of the way to JohnnyCon…i have to see if i could swing that

I claim the record!!! grin

I recently went from Adelaide South Australia, to Houston Texas for a naval wargames convention!

Their special attraction was a dreadnought BATTLESHIP!
