"Samurai peasant" is an oxymoron. Yes and no…Yes, in that no Samurai were farmers. No, because at the end of the Edo period, many samurai were dirt-poor, while the merchants (bottom of the social class) were as rich as daimyo.

Or Samurai may refer to the period while peasant refers to the subject.
