(wasn't quite sure where to start this, and as this is a figure finishing question, I'll post it here…)

Does anyone know if someone makes flags in 28mm for the 1st Minnesota Volunteer Regiment? I tried to Google for them yesterday and was not having any luck…

Cheers,
Kevin

GMB makes a generic Minnesota flag (both state and National) – US7 but if you email Grahame he can probably make one for you that is specific. I LOVE his flags and use them on all my regiments.

I hand painted one for this regiment based on my reading about the regiment in state archives. When touring one of the state historical sites, I saw a representation of the 1ST MN. regiment flag, which didn't match what I had read. I ask one of the people working at the site about this, and his response was that I had read a description of a "presentation" flag and not the actual flag used by the regiment.

I still would go with what I read, in which the state flag had a white back ground verses the blue. I would bet they change flag back grounds about the same time they changed from the checker wool shirt and black pants uniform to the standard union uniform.

Hello Kevin,

Nice to see you're painting ACW figures. The 1st Minnesota carried several different national and regimental colours during their enlistment. E-mail or phone me and I'll send you the info you need.

I hand painted my 15mm 1st MN Volunteers flag (I hand paint them all but this is the one I am most proud of). I did it on folded tissue paper cemented together with white glue.

Given an e-mail address I can provide some photos of how it turns out and am willing to assist in the "how" to do it.

Cheers,

The Bandit
