Here's a first look at the second wave of the Karkarines
pun intended! Some of you may recognise these as our sharkman infantry, the rank and file warriors of the Pelagic Dominate, who also sell themselves out as mercenary regiments when they are not called to war by their Cnidarian Overlords. I like to see them as sci fi versions of the Landsknechts of old earth
if the Landsknechts had been sharks. The line has proven successful so we are reinforcing it with lots of new poses, made by Clibinarium, who made both the original batch of Karkarines and the Chewks.
The first image shows all of the new Landser (infantry) poses. From left to right we have the light mortar team with weapon; an anti-tank specialist; a grenadier with the Kark grenade launcher; the second team with the hydroplasma cannon, which is the Kark equivalent of a machine gun; a new hydroplasma rifle pose; another grenadier with the grenade launcher; and finally another new rifle pose.
Here's a better look at the new troop types, the anti-tank specialist with the stingray heavy anti-tank weapon, and the two grenadiers with the grenade launcher.
Finally we have two tanker halves for the (delayed) Karkpanzers. These are dressed and equipped as are the Landser, but have their water lines plugged into larger tanks inside the vehicles and as such do not need to wear the SCOBA tank, which would be very clumsy for a tanker to wear. (Technically as the Karks have evolved to an amphibious lifestyle they do not need to wear the SCOBA tank, but it helps them to fight at peak efficiency to have water running into their mouths and out their gills.) To be made next for them will be crewed heavy infantry weapons -- a twin barreled autocannon and a heavy mortar, each of which is large enough that it needs to be mounted on a cruciform base. These weapons may alternately be mounted on the Mako Gun Tractor, the incredibly successful little vehicle used by the Karks and many other races in the known galaxy, such as the Felids, the Thrainites, the Control Battalion (and thus captured by the Sepulvedan Resistance), and the JTFB. In other Pelagic news, a new race, the Amphibians, is being developed. They will be the heavy line infantry of the Dominate, lighter than the Orcas but heavier than the Karks. They will basically be sci fi versions of our very popular Salamander fantasy models, but wearing full carapace armour and using plasma guns. They are still in the early stages of development though. Stay tuned, and cross your fingers that the Karks make it across the Atlantic! |

Wow, excellent additions to a good Space Opera style race. I should mention that recent episodes of the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series have featured a race of shark men, so now if anyone wanted to make a force for a Star Wars game, here they are! -Eli |

Finally! I love these guys. I don't know how well they sell, but I doubt it's enough. They paint up really well. Very simple, very straightforward They're detailed enough without too much going on on each figure and they're unique. "Any more new figures from Jon and I'll need a loan shark." Makes me want to sculpt a Fedora onto some of these guys now
. maybe add a feather
"Our armour is paper thin, our morale is low, but we have the best damned hats in the universe!" "I should mention that recent episodes of the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series have featured a race of shark men, so now if anyone wanted to make a force for a Star Wars game, here they are!" Those episodes were awesome. Staring the season off with a battle of four undersea armies was nothing less than pure awesome. Even if one of them was the Gungans
. At least we got to see Captain Ackbar with his famous line before it was famous and later General Tarples die a grand death. Too bad Anakin's typical failure method of doing every thing made Tarples' sacrifice meaningless. Any plans to add more Orcas in the future? Glad to hear about the space salamanders too. Very much looking forward to that. The only thing that could make this day more exciting is if the Stikks get released today along with this good news.

Very nice! I just wonder how they keep from chewing through their water hoses accidentally, especially in the heat of battle, when they need to grit their teeth? |

Jon, dude, you gotta slow down. my wallet can't keep up with all of your great new stuff |

Wow. I want them now! More Karkarines is what I wanted to ask about. I thought the first ones were great and it's great to see more loving for them. My only issue was I couldn't get the Hydroplasma cannon to line up right on any of the ones I bought so I attached weapons to the sharks that hold the barrel. This new kneeling pose makes getting a tri-pod or stand for the cannon that much easier. I can't wait for them. Where can I find images of the Karkpanzer? What sharks are these based off of? They look sleek like Macos, Spinners, or Blue sharks. Ever think about thicker heads for Tiger, Whale, Bull or Hammerhead? |

I found a solution to that problem. it requires chopping the base of the front guy until he stands on
basically two tiny squares, then bending him to lean over a little more. They need to be based together too for it to work, but the result looks great. I'll have to really start getting photos of stuff. And maybe a tutorial on how I magnetized the Darling Little I bought. :) |

I thought about cutting deeper into the base and mounting them together, but then I though I was lacking in heavier weapons. So I'm going to assemble a wall section for the standing long barrel to rest the gun on (I'm going to use them as sniper types). |

That is wonderful addition. I hope we got simillar treatment ASAP for Felids and one day also for Myzontid (Lampyroid) – am I the only one who love Myzontid? |
LordNth | 24 Jan 2012 3:15 p.m. PST |
Can't have Karkards without Myzontids. ;) |

"Can't have Karkards without Myzontids. ;)" My own House forces have to make do with out them, as the House Guard CO's personal cook is from Southern Italy, and keeps plenty of garlic handy for just such a delicacy as *lampreys* turning up, even if they are 6' tall and wearing the household livery
.
For the sake of the Myzontids, we'll stick to employing Karks ala carte
