Hello has this store that was 139 York St, Sydney, closed down The phone number does not work, emails are not being answered and that the website is down. it was a great store that I used to go to when I was in Sydney and was hoping to again. |

Yes it is gone, middle of last year I think. The receivers have been selling their stock online over the last few months. Big loss. |

Dead! I was concerned when I saw them getting books in the post from Amazon and then repricing them. All in front of customers

Speaking as a former manager of the business (back when it was down on Pitt Street, near the old Telstra Building), I was sad to hear of it's passing (they shared Tin Soldiers CBD premises, before they shut up shop). Sad, but not surprised. Time and the economy had not been kind, and operator enthusiasm was reported to be
..lacking, at the end. Many, many fond memories of earlier times
.. Cheers to all the ex-customers from back in the day! Kevin |

Very late to this thread. Visiting Sydney after many years away and found out about the closure when looking them up. That store was a constant in my life. Any visit to the CBD when I was a kid in the late 70's would involve a stop at Napoleons (and at the HobbyCo was it up in Martin Place?). This was back when Dennis ran the store. Forgot when they moved directly across the street and that's probably when Kevin worked there (Phantom Records moved into the old location on the east side of the street). Remember they used to sell a lot of miniatures, especially the small sets of metal tanks (forgot the brand) but that eventually went away. Think they kept the big display of board games right up to the end. |
