Anyone have suggestions of sites or blogs that have AWI flags for download? I know of Warflag. I remember there was a possibly a Dutch site that had some good ones, but can not remember the link.

Thanks,
Andrew

Amazing what Google can produce! If you are near a library ILL a copy of Ed Richardson's book on the flags of the American Revolution for a detailed treatment of the facts.

Danish rather than Dutch I believe, but this may be what you are looking for:

The Danish site is a clone of Warglag, and all the errors it perpetuates.
Use it with caution.

This is good for British flags.

fifedrum.org/crfd/BD_1R.htm

and this for Hessian:

vondonop.org/hkuniforms.html

Thsi is good for Butler's Rangers, to show that Loyalist units followed the regulations regarding flags and facing colors.

The following American flags are not in Richardson.

Gostelowe standards:

These were for Continental regiments, and apparently passed out by a central source, by state.

Richardson, by the way:

Great flags done by a real artist. Every Monday he posts a new one. I think he's up to 7 of the Gostelowe standards now. His flags are painted for wargamers, so they are much better than anything recommended above, most of which are not.
Check it out and be sure to go through all of his posts.

And doin't forget warflag.com

As long as Warflag keeps that totally lame "Piss on the British" flag up on their site, I will encourage any and all to forget them.

But all of my American units have the "Piss on the British" flag flying on them.

This is not historically correct?

I could have sworn I saw it in the movie, The "Patriot" with Mel Gibson.

My Bad!!!

Another vote for Quindia studios. They have some great flags. Some are very historical, and others are imagined with some logical reasoning, but very nice. An improvement over Warflag and the Danish site.
