After picking up some very suitable and cheap Mumakil at Target ( TMP link ), I need some 10mm Haradrim to man the beasts. (I'm using a mix of Bo5A and Warmaster Ancients for my rules). I want something that will size up well against Copplestone's excellent fantasy lines. Alas, he has no Haradrim.

I'm thinking late Sassanid Persians from the time of the Arab conquest might be good, but I'm not as familiar with the look of that army, and I would also like something to represent the inclusion of the forces from "Far Harad," which appear from the book descriptions to be loosely based on Africa (or maybe India). I don't want the Arab look (or GW's Araby line); I want to go exotic, more in line with the "what culture is that?" approach.

The descriptions in the book are light enough to be anything— red tunic, "brazen" scale armor, gold ornaments— but there is a reference to a curved sword and a shield with spikes. But a mixed army might work for that.

Any suggestions that might come to mind, both in stand-in armies and in a good manufacturer to match up against the Copplestones?

I've been trawling around for the same, after seeing the unfortunate gap in the Copplestone range, which is otherwise excellent as you say. Sadly, I've not found much (other than tons of reference images*). I'm leaning towards a medieval North African look, Moorish types for the Southrons, and a Turko/Persian look for north/eastern Harads. You may be interested in Magister Militums Saracens range…they didn't do it for me, alas.

*This with an aim to sculpting a few myself, hopefully in line with Copplestone dimensions and style, and the LotR references too. I couldn't say when I'd have them ready, nor whether they'd actually reach production, but I'll keep you informed with my progress if you're interested.

Regards, TC.

I'm in no hurry, and I like the sound of your ideas. I hadn't thought of the Moors.
As it is, this is certainly a down-the-road project for me; I still haven't finished my slowly developing Helms Deep project, and that's just orcs and Rohirrim. If you do wind up sculpting something yourself, let us all know!

Old Glory's 10mm Saracens might fit the bill. link

Great Hall minis has all the pics on their website. I'm not really sure why OG doesn't. link

"….and the drawing of the scimitars of the Southrons was like a glitter of stars."

That's a good find SonOfThor, cheers!

Parzival, have you seen Eureka's Elephant?

Have a look at TB line in Italy some very nice Arab / Eastern figs.

Magister militum are also worth a rummage as they have many lines. Be aware that MM horses are small when compared to GW

Good work Auton1!

And there's another useful find by Fred, nice one.

Just a heads up too, the Old Glory 10s fit in pretty nicely with the BoFA minis. I have some OG Romans and I compared them with the BoFA ones and they match up really well.
