Hi, puting the finnishing pieces of my confederate army together and am looking for information on Hart's S.C. bty. which I believe was equiped with eight of the above so; What colour was this gun? what differentiates it from other rifles? thanks in advance jon |

Look at the photo & painting in my Osprey book: Brandy Station, 1863: First Step Towards Gettysburg. While accurate, the Blakely had an alarming propensity to break the axle.

The Confederate Horse Artillery, Like Hart's Battery, had 4 guns by 1863. Hart's (The Washington Artillery of South Carolina) never had more than 4. |

It was an iron tube, so paint it black. They were good guns as long as they had British ammo to fire
the CSA manufactured ammo was of poor quality and did not give good results. See this link: link Mark |
