Needed a break from painting I guess; because I have Panthers from just about every vendor, & since every one looks so different, I decided to have some fun with the caliper! The following are the percentage accuracy for 1/100 dimensions. Length (L) Width (W) Deck Height (H) Old Glory Peter Pig BattleFront Quality Casting QRF L 98% 103% 106% 99% 102% W 97% 104% 98% 104% 102% H 95% 103% 117% 91% 96% Needless to say, I have always said BF & QC looked a little weird.

I just used the calipers on myself and came up 104% L, 147% W. Bloody scale creep again. |

Cool, we don't come out too bad on that :-) |

My caliper isn't big enough to do myself. |
| Historicalgamer | 14 Jul 2004 5:03 a.m. PST |
That didn't sound quite right |

I'll never be able to look at a caliper quite the same again. |

Did you use the "old" BF castings, or some of the newly cast releases packaged for FoW? |
LFreeman | 14 Jul 2004 8:45 a.m. PST |
Yeah, but does it look right? At 15mm, 2-7% of anything can't be that out of place. If it still looks like a cat and the game stats don't disparage among the shorter or taller models, then I'm OK with it. Lets face it, the only perfect in scale panther is sitting in a museum - and I'm sure there's a wargamer somewhere arguing about its Historicity! Larry |

I have also noticed that BF Panthers, even the new ones are way too tall. If you use OG tracks instead of the ones supplied by BF, then the height is a bit more reasonable. But as LFreeman says they still look like Panthers so its no big deal to me. |

BattleFront Panther is the newly redone model. Every time I look at this I think 'yacht' |

LFreeman, 2-7%?! The BattleFront Panther is bigger than HO scale in height!! 17%!!! |

Yeah, I have a new BF Panther that doesn't fit in wih the rest of the boys. I was annoyed, but then decided "it's a game" and not one has yet complained. |

I like the idea of OG treads |
tankfan | 14 Jul 2004 11:26 a.m. PST |
I keep my Panthers in groups depending on manufacturer -- all OG together, all BF together. That way everything doesn't look wierd if there's a size discrepancy & you avoid questions from the other gamers too. |

Leib, you just made my day These are the first facts in months about compatibility between manufacturors. Now I'm pretty confident that my PP's won't be towered by QRF's. But could become Hitler Jugend next to a BF. Thanks man Boduognat, king of Nervii |

Appreciate the pat on the back, Boduognat. But you can't read too much into it. Each vehicle type will be different. The Panthers are the worst I've seen by far. You get much more commonality between brands with let's say, Pz III's or IV's. |
