Does anyone know what type of infantry rifle the Danes had in 1870? There is a "what-if" scenario I've always wanted to do. At the beginning of the Franco-Prussian War, France proposed to Denmark that France would land 10,000 French Marines in the former Danish province of Schlesweg-Holstein. The Danes would simulataneouslyattack from the north. Denmark would regain their lost province in return for attacking Prussia. In effect, this would have opened up a second front against Prussia. In order to play out this scenario, I need to know what kind of rifle the Danes had in 1870. I'm pretty sure they had upgraded to a breech-loading rifle by then. I'm wondering if it was similar to the Prussian Needle-gun or perhaps was a better rifle. Id also like to know what kind of cavalry regiments the Danes had in 1870? Any information would be appreciated. |

Excellent. Thank you. Out of curiousity, what exactly did you put in the search field? I also tried searching Google and came up with squat. |

The "Blue Diviision" containing four regiments, each of three battalions. When the project for the attack on the German coast was abandoned they became part of Marshal MacMahon's Army of Chalons. They were part of the disaster at Sedan, but won a great reputation for their defence of the village of Bazeilles against the Bavarians. Mollinary |

the 4 Regiments of Marine Infantry in France didn't not have the common size of a french regiment, there were 140 companies, half of these companies were in the four French major ports so enough to form a Division, others companies in Overseas garrisons and probably others were raised during the war from the Depots there was too an Artillery Marine Regiment |
