…for every single period of historical conflict. We may as well do the boards dilution thing properly, so let's have your suggestions. Note that this isn't an either/or suggestion, there are no 'best of fives'. Every era mentioned will get its very own board.

The poll will be 'Do you want boards for all of the following?', and the voting options are

1) yes
2) no
3) I like sponge

To start off, I would like:

A Chariot Armies Board
A Punic War Board
A Roman Empire Board (with appropriate sub-divisions)
A Vikings Board
A 1066 Board (a bit narrow that one, but that hasn't previously been a deterrent)
A Great Northern War Board
A War of the Spanish Succession Board
A War of the Austrian Succession Board
A Zulu War Board

Over to you lot. Fill in the gaps.

Mako1117 Jan 2012 4:09 p.m. PST

4,387 boards is a lot of boards…..

Connard Sage17 Jan 2012 4:13 p.m. PST

4,387? Pah, that's just scratching the surface. We haven't touched pre-history yet.

Connard Sage17 Jan 2012 4:17 p.m. PST

If you can find a set of rules for the Sponge Cake Wars kyote, it's going on the list.

Mooseworks817 Jan 2012 4:19 p.m. PST

With 6mm sub-boards.

Twig6617 Jan 2012 4:20 p.m. PST

Each board should have a Giant Monster version, a Wierd War version, and Dr. Who version too.

Connard Sage17 Jan 2012 4:21 p.m. PST

With 6mm sub-boards.

Patience. Sub-divisions into figure sizes is another poll.

kreoseus217 Jan 2012 4:32 p.m. PST

the war between vikings & eskimos needs several unique boards, and the various mythical battles between preceltic peoples in Ireland, fir bolg vs fhoi mhor for example , needs a suite of boards, at least one en suite.

How about a sarcastic posts by Connard Sage board?

Start with the Cretaceous Period – historically accurate giant monster battles.

How about a sarcastic posts by Connard Sage board?

I believe we do have one of those around here somewhere already yes indeed.

And please, don't you blaspheme now, don't you blaspheme.

Maddaz11117 Jan 2012 6:33 p.m. PST

Why the Cretaceous… I think the early Cambrian Fauna of the Burgess Shale would make an excellent wargame, with some quite scary monsters! (even if they are quite small really)

Jovian117 Jan 2012 6:33 p.m. PST

Why periods? Why not each distinct conflict even if only a minor border skirmish between minor bit players in history. Wait, wait, I've got it!!

WHY NOT HAVE JUST ONE BOARD TO RULE THEM ALL AND IN THE DARKNESS BIND THEM!!!

I am assuming this is in jest and hope there isn't really a poll on this topic.

GoGators17 Jan 2012 7:02 p.m. PST

In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie.

I personally would not be too keen on posting to one board in Mordor. You would likely get eaten by something that was not nice.

Lentulus17 Jan 2012 7:14 p.m. PST

every single period

Semicolons aren't good enough?

Space Monkey17 Jan 2012 7:17 p.m. PST

I really want a board for the second Tuesday in May of 1942… it's imperative. The board being proposed for Thursday of that week just won't do and will only confuse the folks setting their games on Tuesday.

Mako1117 Jan 2012 7:44 p.m. PST

Pleistocene era for me……

Personal logo Whirlwind Supporting Member of TMP17 Jan 2012 7:59 p.m. PST

yes why not – it is going there anyway. gives more opportunity to cross-post too, winner.

Personal logo Whirlwind Supporting Member of TMP17 Jan 2012 8:01 p.m. PST

I should suggest a subdivision too I suppose – Revolutionary War (French version)

21eRegt17 Jan 2012 8:04 p.m. PST

Yawn….

StarfuryXL517 Jan 2012 9:30 p.m. PST

posting to one board in Mordor

One does not simply post to a board in Mordor.

Derek H17 Jan 2012 10:07 p.m. PST

Sub-boards for Zombies in every period please.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2012 3:35 a.m. PST

Sub-boards for Zombies in every period please.

I asummed that was a given – but yes, we need zombie FIW now !

ochoin deach18 Jan 2012 3:48 a.m. PST

Here's some old boards* we could recycle.

picture

* b-o-a-r-d-s as in surf boards. Not b-r-o-a-d-s as in…. you get the picture.

MajorB18 Jan 2012 4:08 a.m. PST

I want a War of Jenkins' Ear board!

And an Anglo-Zanzibar War board!

Scorpio18 Jan 2012 6:20 a.m. PST

After these get put in place, I will start suggesting boards for the interwar periods. Yes, all of them.

John the Greater18 Jan 2012 7:10 a.m. PST

Why stop at historical periods? Why not just give each member of TMP their own board and let them subdivide the board by period, scale, number of boobies and relevance to Zardoz?

Connard Sage18 Jan 2012 7:56 a.m. PST

I'd like to thank 20thmaine for bolstering my megalomania, but we need more suggestions. A torrent of suggestions, what we have a the moment is a mere trickle.

C'mon guys, up your game a bit. I want the 'I've got every board turned on' types (I'm looking at you, John the OFM) to all get RSI scrolling the front page.

Onwards and upwards!

Altius18 Jan 2012 8:35 a.m. PST

YES!!!!

Dropzonetoe Fezian18 Jan 2012 8:48 a.m. PST

I've been wanting to game the Hatfields and Mccoys in 10mm but didn't know where to post it?

Martin Rapier18 Jan 2012 8:52 a.m. PST

The nineteenth century is a very rich source of potential boards, so many wars….

Danish Prussian War
Austro Prussian War
Franco Prussian War
Italo (well sort of, Savoy/Piedmont) Austrian War
Russo Turkish War (several to choose from)
One for each of the several Wars of Italian Independance

I believe there was the odd scuffle in Africa, India, South America and Asia in this period too, as well as all the trouble that Napoleon chap caused.

With wikipedia down of course I can't give a comprehensive list.

" 'I've got every board turned on' types (I'm looking at you, John the OFM) to all get RSI scrolling the front page."

I have every board turned on, I dont think it makes a blind bit of difference to the front page which is capped at 200 threads (if only I could set it to 20000).

Cerdic18 Jan 2012 9:19 a.m. PST

I propose a board for "The Anarchy" 1139 – 1153.

kreoseus218 Jan 2012 9:55 a.m. PST

How about a seperate board for tango to post on, we could call it the cul de sac board ?

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2012 10:36 a.m. PST

Low blow !

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2012 10:37 a.m. PST

We need naval boards for all the wars, and aviation boards for everything from Daedelus onwards.

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER18 Jan 2012 11:21 a.m. PST

I am assuming this is in jest and hope there isn't really a poll on this topic.

How about a sarcastic posts by Connard Sage board?

Jovian there will be!
This is how we got the El Camino boards! somebody says something like this, and depending on my blood sugar level, a new poll suggestion…

Non Irn Bru18 Jan 2012 2:49 p.m. PST

I think a sarcasm board hosted by Connard is just what we need on TMP.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP18 Jan 2012 4:53 p.m. PST

He cannot be constrained by your boards.

He is omnipresent.

He doth sprinkle his gift of sarcasm on all and in every place.

COL Scott0again18 Jan 2012 5:33 p.m. PST

More boards……Lovely.

Seeing as Connard has gone off the deep end someone had to say it.

Cardinal Hawkwood19 Jan 2012 4:36 a.m. PST

War of Jenkin's ear can be covered by the WAS board..I want War of the Polish Succession, that is the one just before the War of Jenkins Ear and the War of the Bavarian Succession which comes much later..

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian19 Jan 2012 10:01 a.m. PST

This is how we got the El Camino boards!

Or didn't, actually.

However, this proposal for boards is not being made in the proper manner, as expressed in the site FAQ.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP19 Jan 2012 11:11 a.m. PST

Rules lawyer.

goragrad20 Jan 2012 9:01 p.m. PST

Why stop at wars?? Surely there are theaters, campaigns, and battles that are worthy on in depth discussion.

And then there are the major changes in uniforms, equipment, camouflage, etc. that occurred during wars that require detailed analysis and discussion (the dunkel/feldgrau board vs the gelb boards).

If it is inappropriate to use your DAK minis for Barbarossa why should the discussions be intermingled.

I tanks were en entirely different beast than cruisers. It would be so much easier discussing deployment, unit organization, and tactics when you knew you were on the cruiser board.

Connard Sage21 Jan 2012 3:07 a.m. PST

I think a cruiser board might send mixed messages :)

Personal logo etotheipi Sponsoring Member of TMP21 Jan 2012 6:01 a.m. PST

We need naval boards for all the wars, and aviation boards for everything from Daedelus onwards.

Daedelus is fictional. The OP says historical conflict. Also, classical Greece isn't going back far enough for aviation. I would like to see pterosaur battles from the late Triassic. The OP doesn't say human conflict.

Don196221 Jan 2012 9:11 p.m. PST

I vote YES on the Great Northern Wars board. No joking folks.
