With HG Wells, ERB and Space1889. I was just wondering how many Martian species there and are they compatable with each other? |

Don't forget Ray Bradbury. |

From the Barsoom novels, I would reckon that they are not even compatible with themselves, let alone each other! :) |

Well Valor & Steel & Flesh does a nice job of combining the H.G. Wells and ERB races for great VSF fluff. Plus Bob Charette has tossed in a few inventions of his own. I do not think the Bradbury Marians would fit as well with the Wells/ERB concept. If you can get the RAFM Space 1889 figures I think these would work within the scope of a VSF game. For my future Venus VSF game I will use the three GW Lizardmen races (Slann, Saurian Warriors, Skinks) and the Kroot from 40K as the races of the planet. I have even considered using Dark Elves to provide a more human looking race plus it would give me an excuse to purchase Cold One riders as a Venusian Cavalry option. Although I have considered buying the DE Cold One riders then converting Kroot as the riders. |

What, what, what, everyone knows the Treen live on Venus, not some lizards! Tsk tsk, next you will be telling me Jupiter can't support life and that there are no Clangars on the moon! |

I took the Talislanta races and put them on Venus(it's a big place) |

On dying Mars, I have in my on little VSF fluff-i-verse, the Civilized Martians (analogs of Reds/Canal Martians), the Feral Martians (Space 1889's High Martians), and the Desert Martians (no figs yet, but looking at the Sanwar from Ironclad, IIRC). Venus teems with life, both native and created. Besides the dinosauria and megafauna mammals, there are Parrotmen, at least three species of lizardmen, frogmen, turtlemen, and the races being created by a Mad Scientist (Dr. Vardu) from plants and human/animal hybridization. When the Navy Walks has several species of Martians as well, from the Greys to the Overlords (Skvani), and a couple of more between

Stars of Empire offers up a pair of alien races. The la selpurdi that live on Mars and their enemies the Oonaliss. The Oonaliss may have been wiped out centuries ago. Both Mars and Venus are full of life of various sorts from The Hive that is used to attack Earth in The Hive and the Flame. Terry Sofian Hivequeenandcountry.com |

The Space 1889 / Parroom Martians are basically ERB ones with odd ears and feet. On a tabletop they probably pass for ERB ones (Bronze Age, Tin Man) in the same way as most Elves can pass for humans. Could not the cultures and races of Mingo be thrown in the mix? Or are they restricted to Europa, the Jupiter satellite? |

Btw the Predastore Predette could pass for a female 1889 / Parroom Martian with a war mask: link
(painted here by Ángel Giráldez link). Reaper Andromedans look quite compatible with the 1889 / Parroom Martians
BUT the 'range' is restricted to *3* specimens, the Empress, her vizier and a single 'active' figurine: link One could think of completing them with Black Orc Games Donellas who look not that different:
