Dear Colleagues, Which manufacturers 15mm miniatures you would recommend to buy the army to play by the rules FoG during the war of the League of Augsburg? Thank you in advance for your help With best wishes, Vasily |

Hi Vasily Your options are – in my order of preference Venixia Essex Hallmark (via Magister Militum) Irregular I think all my photos from the FoG book are still on the Venixia website
thanks Simon |

Hi, Simon! Thank you very much for the exhaustive answer. With the production of the first three producers I've come across. I'll buy miniatures from them. With best wishes, Vasily |

Or you could buy from Donnington, MY Minaitures or Lancashire Games- who happen to have a sale on at this very moment. |

Vasily, You may wish to compare the different makers with an eye to size and compatibility. Even if not in mixed units, I'm not sure that I would put Hallmark or Editions Brokaw in the same army with Venexia or Lancashire Games. Here are some comparison pic's that I did for a review some time ago: The Officers
The Drummers
The Rank & File
And here is a comparison of Donnington (L) and Irregular (R) to Mick Yarrow's MY Miniatures Sedgemoor range:
BTW, the only reason for including the Les Higgins 20mm figure on some stands was to illustrate scale creep since 1970. The background of these pic's is a grid of 4mm squares with interval marks at 2mm. I personally like all of the ranges shown and reviewed, but for my own collection I have chosen to use Donnington, Essex, MY Miniatures, and Irregular, as I feel they are all more compatible in size. Also, all cavalry will fit on the other maker's horses, which allows for some degree of customization. Bill Sir William the Aged warsoflouisxiv.blogspot.com |

Actually Donnington are quite nice too! I forgot about those |

2 Martin Thanks for the link to the photos. Excellent painted miniatures! It is encouraging that would begin working on this issue. 2 Bill, Simon and bruntonboy Thank you very much, gentlemens! Particularly impressed with the product of Donnington Miniatures. Since I am not afraid to work with finely detailed miniatures (the way I work with figures can be viewed here vasiliyl.blogspot.com ) I'm going to stop the choice on Donnington and Venexia Thank you all for your help. With best wishes, Vasily |

And one more question. What do you think, gentlemens, can I use for a period of War of the League of Augsburg Swedish figures from this manufacturer link |

Bill – that's a really useful set of pictures. Great to see those Les Higgins chaps sneaking in on the end of the line :)
LH 20s were the first metal figures I ever saw and set a standard very few have ever matched up to. Phil |

Vasilly, the link you provided is for earlier in the century, I believe
. If you want something different, Pendraken makes very nice figures for this period too. I know more than one player that uses 10mm in FoG tournaments by the way

2 ancientsgamer Thanks for your reply:) I understand that the Swedes were presented at an earlier period (the Thirty Years War), but hope remains. The Turks and the Poles for the entire 17th century. Regarding your advice to use 10mm figures Pendraken I can only say that 10mm is too small for me to scale. I have worked with 6mm figures from GHQ (WW2) and Baссus (BCC) and could not get satisfaction from working with figures.10 mm figures I was holding on only during the Napoleonic wars produced by GHQ. Detailing I was pleasantly surprised, but I realized that I could not paint them qualitatively from the fact that the scale of the figures are too shallow. |

I understand. Pendraken are closer to what 15mm used to be. They are quite a bit bigger than GHQ. I do prefer 15mm by the way myself ;-) |

15mm for me is the greatest discovery in the last year. 2.5 years I've worked only with 28-30mm figures. Painted over 500 figures and is now resting at 15mm :))) At Christmas, made a gift – bought the rule book "Field of Glory" in Renaissance and three special books with the army sheets (TYW, the Ottomans and the League of Augsburg). Adequate rules on the 17 th century and the WSS I never saw (T. Gore, 1644, WAB, Tilly, BLB not impressed me) and it seems to have found a system that can meet my expectations. In the club my comrades are ready to support me in games 15mm figures, it remains the case for small – to find the figures, as you all have helped us very much:) |
