Gentlefolk,

Most of the Google Epubs (for Nook) are straight downloads, much like Archive.org.

But SOME are zipped and when I do zip them, there is so much stuff there that I don't know "what's what"

(I'll take $5 USD worth…: )

All kidding aside, what is the file end name that I need to look for that allows me to put the Epub in my Nook or do I download the whole thing into my Nook?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

Try a file manager. Such as Calibre

calibre-ebook.com

Free, and it's what I use because Sony's e-reader software is pish.

with the recent software upgrade, I downloaded it (the upgrade) as a zip file to my computer, dragged it onto my nook and the nook unzipped it automatically.
It may be the same case with ebooks.

I think an .EPUB file is complete so all you need.

Often you see ZIP/RAR including .EPUB, .MOBI, .LIT … extentions, which are just different versions of the same book for different devices.

For a Sony e-reader you can just extract the .EPUB file and ignore the rest. I presume it is the same on a Nook.

I'll have to go look on more time, but I usually see a bunch of .jpg's and junque.

Once more into the breach.

Again though, odd, some files are straight Epubs and then a few are these zip jobbies.

Ah well, I tried.

Connard,

thanks for the tip on Calibre, that looks promising. I took the on-line demo, now need to follow-up with how to get it. Mr Goyal did a fine job demonstrating its capabilities.

Ahah…I figured it out.

IF I download from home on my old Commodore 64 jobbie attached to Sarah and the phone exchange…I get the massive zipfile that makes no sense.

However, if I download from the library computer with HS internet, the same "zip" files (which says it is a zip file) automatically sort themselves out into the proper Epub doc on their own and Voila it loads up, good, Real Good!, into my Nook!

I think I'm going to have to upgrade to the 20th Century as soon as I get some funds!

Thanks to you all…and especially you Connard, I'll miss you most of all! Now where are my ruby slippers!

wink
