Is anyone playing Napoleonics, with whatever rule system, but on Warmaster sized bases? Warmaster uses bases which are 4cm wide by 2cm deep (but those dimensions can be reversed for some troops). It might be interesting to base Napoleonics on the Warmaster system because this allows Ottoman figures to do double duty, across an extended period, in Warmaster and for Napoleonics. Actually this was why I based my 7YW 10mm figures on Warmaster bases. |

Our local group has all of our 10mm Napoleonics mounted on 40mm x 20mm bases. It works well for our home grown Napoleonic rules and if we wanted to play LaSalle, we all have sabot bases that make that possible too. 40x20 for 10mm is the way to go in my honest opinion. Our group has played Nappies (based per Nap.Battles) using the warmaster system and find it works really nicely . FWI Clif |

My 6mm alders are all on 40x20s I use them for Black Powder. |

Will work just fine. I asked this about WM basing for Black Powder and got nothing but positive comments. BTW BP would be better than WM. |

Definitely. I am rebasing all of my 6mm Napoleonics on 40x20 for infantry, 403x30 for cavalry, and 40x40 for artillery.
This allows me to use them for DBN, Snappy Nappy, Lasalle, Napoleon at War [1] and Black Powder. For the FPW using BP, however, I am using 1" x 1/2", 1" x 3/4" and 1" x 1" bases. This gives the units a "thinner" look, and cuts the scale to about 3/5ths, allowing for larger battles or smaller tables. [1] Okay, so Napoleon at War actually has a different basing scheme, but I think it won't matter. There are plenty of others using other basing schemes for those rules. Dale |

Yes for DBN with 10mm figures. Also with Lasalle although there is a push to try Napoleon At War going on with the influence of the Austin group influencing us in San Antonio. Have been thinking that for my 10mm Napoleonics, I may actually go the 20mm square route as this would allow me to play all the rules sets I care to as stated by Dale. With my 15mm stuff, I will probably be moving to the Napoleon's Battles scheme (which is 3/4 X 1 inch or 20mm by 25mm being close enough in metric measure) Again for the sole reason of being able to play more game systems this way. FoG: N (Napoleonics) is being released in March. It promises to handle various basing standards at the same time. In other words, you opponent could be based for Empire and you could be based for Napoleon's Battles and it would be just fine. I have had to modify my desires with battalion level unit games to a higher scale due to my gaming opponents wishes. While I don't have the time or patience for Empire style games. I do wish to play with battalions being base units but with Corps size or larger battles at some point. Anyone have rules suggestions where battalions are base units, with formation rules and not too complex to be able to get a larger size battle done in say no more than about 4 hours? (ducks!) |

Yep – March Attack from Crusader games exactly fit the bill! I looked for a set that did this for years, and MA is the one that best fits the bill. |

And – per the OP – MA uses 40x20mm bases. |

Thanks for all your input. It is looking very positive on the 10mm 4cm x 2cm front. |

Not yet. But I have a large French vs Austrian 6mm army that will be. |

I use March Attack and Snappy Nappy. With 25mm wide bases, I just made my own ruler to simulate the 40mm bases. That allows me even more precious space to be saved. I have based my 6mm on 1" x 3/4", 3 cavalry or 8 infantry(2 strips), with 2 bases per unit. 1"x1" for artillery.
