Alright, they aren't calling it Gaming Paper, they call it Gift Wrap or Wrapping Paper.
Anyway a lot of it has a square 1" grid printed on the back of it to help cut your paper straight when wrapping gifts. Guess what? That is almost exactly like Gaming Paper, except for the festive prints on the other side. It's a much better deal than Gaming Paper and you get more on a roll.
I picked up a bunch today.
The Scotch brand heavy duty paper on a 30" wide roll by 20' long gives you 8 more linear feet of it than a roll of Gaming Paper. It was on clearance at $1.48 USD a roll.
Thier generic brand that isn't heavy duty is avaiable in 40" wide rolls and 27' long. It is on clearance for $1.22 USD a roll.
They were out of stock on the 30" wide rolls by about 70' long rolls that I picked up before Christmas when we ran out of gift wrap. It wasn't the heavy duty stuff, but even at the regular price of about $5.00 USD a roll that stuff was quite the bargain, compared to Gaming Paper's 30" wide by 12' roll at $4.00 USD a roll.
If you use Gaming Paper, I see absolutely nothing wrong with using some Gift Wrap for the same purpose. After all, the first time I saw Gaming Paper, I said to myself "That's just wrapping paper with no pattern printed on it. I've got a couple rolls in my closet." Gaming Paper even sells gamer themed Gift Wrap now if you don't believe their Gaming Paper is just Gift Wrap!
