Do you use 6mm scale exclusively for your wargames? (Excluding, of course, periods/genres for which 6mm would be ill-suited.) * yes, exclusively * no, but 6mm is my primary scale * no, but I use some 6mm * I don't use any 6mm * not a wargamer |

No but I use some 6mm. I used to game exclusively in 6mm but was lured away by dark age 28mm plastics and have found myself drawn to larger scales as my eyesight has deteriorated. |

Indeed so. Do tell. EDIT: Thinking about it, space fleet and naval combat could be tricky..

I play in too many scales. The scale I play in least is 28mm. 6mm is third after 15mm and 40mm (one period but a lot of gaming), then comes 3mm. I am finding painting 6mm to be less enjoyable these days. |

* no, but I use some 6mm I am finding that a lot of the 6mm I had been doing slowly changing to 3mm. Also a lot of the larger skirmish stuff has been switching to single based 6mm. |

* no, but I use some 6mm I recently declared that I wanted to move to 6mm for all of my "mass" battles, but then I look at my 15mm FOW collection, my 15mm DBA Ancients collection, and my even larger 15mm AWI collection, and I find it hard to let go. I also declared to go to 42mm for my skirmish games, but I look at my excess, singly-based 15mm AWI collection, my 28mm WW II collection, and my 28mm fantasy/space fantasy collection and find it hard to let go. The problem, of course, is that I swore I would never sell a painted figure, ever again. At this point you might be wondering if I even have any 6mm

* no, but I use some 6mm Still game with 15mm and 28mm but for modern and sci-fi I'm scaling down to 6mm. Thinking hard about selling my 15/28 stuff to buy more 6mm. Might do the same with other periods if the minis are right. Hard to see letting go of 15mm fantasy though, it's got me! I collect 6mm to 54mm. |

I do some 6mm, all sci-fi at this point. |
Micman | 30 Dec 2011 7:34 p.m. PST |
I have WWII, modern and sci-fi in 6mm. At one point it was my primary scale. Currently I have more 6mm painted than any other scale. But I expect that to change with 15mm being my scale of choice. |
Stern Rake Studio | 30 Dec 2011 9:27 p.m. PST |

(Excluding, of course, periods/genres for which 6mm would be ill-suited.) Which periods/genres would they be then? Would 'space corridor' and 'dungeoon crawl' games (Space Hulk being a prime example) fall into this category? I suppose one could do it in 6mm
but why? *no, I don't have any 6mm. |
GoneNow | 31 Dec 2011 8:00 a.m. PST |
Back in high school we played more then one game of Space Hulk using non-based Epic figures and the little map "layout" tokens. So Space Corridor and Dungeon Crawls are not one of the "ill-suited genres". But I think fleet level naval and spaceship games would probably be some of the ill-suited types. |
Martin Rapier | 31 Dec 2011 9:14 a.m. PST |
"naval combat could be tricky" We used to use 1/300th scale stuff as land support for our 1/600th scale naval battles. Anyway, I game in many scales from 2mm to 54mm, but 6mm is one of my more popular ones (Napoleonics, Colonial, WW1, WW2 and Moderns). |

* no, but 6mm is my primary scale (WWII, Nap, Sci Fi) Also have 15mm WWII, Nap fleet in 1:2400 & dystopian. so for me generally smaller better (but mainly for storage reasons plus I love big scale battles. |
