There is a new Pulp TV show, set in a 1960s WWII starting in Australia in February. Looks like fun.

Funny, reminds me of Team America the animated movie from the early 2000s.

This is either going to be a hoot, or a flop.

I hope for the hoot.

Doesn't You Tube already have Danger 5 episodes posted. Hard to fault a show that uses the Constellation airliner.

Looks to me to be a parody of those men's slick adventure/exploitation magazines that followed the pulp era into the late 1950's and 1960's like "Man to Man", "Man's Adventures" and "True Men's Adventures" with stories like "Bring Out the Hostages of Hitler's Passion Cave". Check out this cover:

No worse than " Man from U.N.C.L.E." !

The ones already out are web episodes and can be found on the original link.

For the (unaired?) TV episodes see:

For a great book featuring cover art from the post-1950's era of mens magazines have a look at this:

John Palmquist was generous enough to give me a copy at Enfilade last year. It is a hoot!

Some of titles include:

Weasels Tore My Flesh
I Stole A Nazi Destroyer
Death Orgy of The Doomed Vice Queens
Blood Mad Bats Of The Lost World….

Pure gold I tells ya.

Those mags were the natural successor to pulp magazines when censorship in the USA loosened up. There were a few of them laying around in every barber shop. In the 50's they mostly showed Jap and Nazi torturers or people fighting against animals of all kinds. Then they progressed to Viet Cong and "Commie" torturers. Norm Saunders drew some of the best covers. These magazines were typical for the era.:

BE ADVISED THAT THESE ARE NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY MAGAZINE COVERS!

Wow, I could not create a better parody story title than

"Nude Queen of the Communist Cannibals"

But there it is in the second link !

Right Chick!

This stuff is truly amazing!

I love those pulpy stories where the heroes position their efforts, not to thwart the forces of the opposing side but the leadership of the forces of the opposing side, making war most personal. It's hilarious and what makes the "campiness" of such series so enjoyable.

I love the mixture of 60's kitsch set against an exploded design of 1940s backdrop. But when I first saw this clip on U-Tube I thought it was the work of some university cinema project and not an actual production.

Good luck to them. I for one am going to figure how to combine 7TV and Point Blank if they provide enough plot line.

So bad, it's good!

(love the "early Gerry and Sylvia Anderson"-style vehicles/models and sets)

That type of cheap and minimal set goes back to early TV on Captain Midnight, Rocky Jones and Space Patrol.

I don't understand the premise. Is this WWII lasting into the 60's or WWII beginning in the 60's?

It's set during WW II with a distinctly 1960's look for the costumes, acting and filming technique. Take a look at this magazine cover again. The girls are fighting nazis, but they look like 1960's Playboy bunnies:

That's the look that they were going for with Illsa's costume. Shirt tied up with her charms on display. They could also have been thinking of Honor Blackman as "you-know-who" Galore in "Goldfinger".

PULP COMEDY FANS OF OZ! Stand by for the first episode of over-the-top sixtiesesque silliness that is DANGER 5, this coming Monday 27/2 on SBS1 at 9.30pm.
