I've just had some of the North Star 1672 range of cavalrymen painted by Mr Cubbins. They are really nice, thought I'd share them with you.

And I'd also like to say Merry Christmas to everyone on TMP!

Beautiful work and the horses look very natural. Superb.

Cheers,

I agree, awesome paint jobs, especially the horses. Nice way to display these figures, but I wonder how practical it would be to paint up several cavalry units to this standard.

Everything on that link is stunning. At long last the latter 17th century is getting figures worthy of the era. With these, Warfare Miniatures and the new WSS by Ebor, 2012 is going to be a good wargaming year.

One minor niggle but, IMHO, two poses for horses just does not create the activity of a real cavalry unit. Whether standing, walking or at speed three, very preferably four, different horses are required for the effect.

Hey Cyrus, not practical at all! It'd take a life time to achieve.

But the foot regiments in the same gallery by Dave Woodward are brilliantly done and we should have armies to use early next year.

Cheriton, when we bought the range from Copplestone the horses that came with it were all in a similar pose. This first command was done put on the same horses, but the new Cavalry command Steve Saleh is working on right now will have new horses.

Wonderful to hear Nick, and, of course it's not only a slight variation in the lower legs, but heads, necks, etc. that are required for real effect.

I am anxiously awaiting what North Star manage with both the "1672" and the "1866" lines.

Nicely done. I'm glad to see this range getting finished out.
